Just received some inside word from the club that James Clement will not play again for the rest of the year. Apparently the calf tear is in a very awkward spot, related to the achilles, and is not responding to treatment.

The odds are that he will not be able to play for the remainder of the year. I think this will hurt us big time come finals.

Torn Soleus, that came from the man himself on radio.

Can refer pain to the achilles if injured and that's why he may have achilles pain, but wouldn't have a lasting effect when healed.

If worse comes to worse he will have to go under the knife to get it surgically repaired.

Soleus attaches to the heel via the tendo achilles. He was saying the only thing he can't do is hit top pace. I doubt he's out for the year in Round 14.

Inside word from club? You dont own a radio?

I didn't hear his radio interview but would like to know what he was said. I was given this information last night.

You'd think he would get back.

rest him full forward? kicked a few bags of 5 early in his career then slot him back to the backline after his healed

Crap ,he was on triple mmm on the weekend and he said he'll be back later this month.
Agreed his injury has to be monitored but he'll play.

Collingwood have not announced anything yet. Clement said himself on radio he will be back this month some time....he said it on Friday. I heard it on SEN!!!

To all those who are relying on what he is saying, I heard him in on an interview with triple m before the bulldogs game, and he said he'd be back within 3 weeks from that game.

That turned out to be not true.

I wouldn't be listening to anything he or the club says- in the football world, the truth never really appears in the media.

Absolutely! However, at the minute, most of us have absolutely no idea of how reliable your club source is.

If it's a ruptured achilles, then that's surgery. Anything short of that (even a fairly serious tear to the lower calf or achilles) then that should be curable with rest and treatment. That does appear to be the way they are headed currently. It is the logial way to go - given that we are in with a red-hot crack at it, we'd be mad not to do everything to get him right (even if it's only a 10% chance).

the player himself is hardly qualified for saying when he will be right. medicos are the best bet, but buckley has been listed at the ground as 1-2 weeks since the start of the year.

But we should trust rumours made up on internet chat sites?
