He was the one that fell over in the goal square and Kieran Jack kicked the goal in the grand final right?

I would love to have Youngy at the PIes, he's not only a top footballer, but a cracking bloke as well, good family. Come over wanga!

Would've said yes until the last 5mins in the GF until a breathe of wind blew him over in the goal square

According to The Age he toured the Westpac Centre last night.

We basically already have him then ;) What article does it say this in?

Mixed emotions though I must say. He's soft but he's got good skills and a good runner off halfback. Until the last few minutes of the GF I'd have been happy.

You can't hold one incident against him. So what if he's soft? Not everyone has to be bone-crushing like the big Q Stick. "Good skills and a good runner off halfback" is more than enough to make up for any softness. It's exactly what we need.

Sounds like we are in to him if he was at westpac centre last night. I reckon he would be great of half back. Lets not hang the bloke for one incident in the GF. Rhys Shaw has a pretty bad GF a few years back and has turned all that around to be a great player and significant contributor in the swans premiership.

Given he is a free agent it makes him a lot more appealling. I assume we will have some cash if we are losing Wellers and or Dawes. I think he fills a need and gives us some depth in that area. Perhaps he can take over Ben Johnsons role eventually as he only has a year left in him and to me thru the finals Johno seemed to have lost some pace.

I also think Young is someone who cna be groomed to take over our kick ins. They were woeful this year a real difference from our 2011 side. Leon did a great job & we couldn't replace his skills.

Can someone confirm how it works with him being a restricted free agent as opposed to being unrestricted?

Say we offer him 50,000 or so more than what Hawthorn are paying him now (if we can afford it), can they turn around and say they will match it and then keep him? Or am I seriously confused as to this whole concept?

Being a restricted FA means the Hawks can match what we offer and keep him. But, they might find it fairly tight in their salary cap at the moment especially after signing Lake, unless they free up some cash by moving players on - I think the Suns are after Gilham.

Just to clear this up, he is an unrestricted free agent, well according to the AFL anyway;

That means if we want him, and he wants to come to us, all we have to do is negotiate with him and his manager over salary.

Even though he is soft, so was Rhyce Shaw when he left Collingwood, and so was Heath Scotland yet they turned their careers around once they went to another club, maybe Young might toughen up a bit too if asked to play a slightly different role with us.

The Hawks website says the same thing. Does anyone really know for sure? Haha.
