He is a free agent. The choice is his. He stays at Hawthorn or he signs with us. Hawthorn has the opportunity to match it, if they do, he stays a Hawk.

I can't see how it's not as simple as that!

They can't match it Offically but they can Offer him a Better Deal before it's announced.

Still think he might stay at hawks if they have come up with a better deal:(
 
Pity they already broke the piggy bank for Lake and have already shown their hand. Don't try and bluff when you've asked for a flip and we all saw it was an 8.

I assume a trade for Young may mean Hawthorn are looking to bring in a FA, therefore negating any FA compo for Young leaving.

If we trade for him with a pick we are not planning to use, Hawthorn give us.....perhaps pay some of Youngs salary and dont lose any compo if they bring in a FA.
 
If the hawks bring in a player through FA they won't gain anything, in fact it would be the other team that will gain.

Edit: sorry I get your point now. They would lose the Young compensation while if we trade then they still get something.
 
I don't care whether Young comes to us or not, but we shouldn't be trading for him and as far as I'm concerned if we've forced Hawthorn to offer him more, we've already had a win.

Yes 4 players. You deleted one of our draft picks in pick 47 so that makes it 4 spots on the list. If we are to use all 4, then we need to part way with 4 more players. That's why I'm saying we may as well give pick 47 away as its likely we won't be using it.
