He's been playing for Claremont. I don't think he will be playing for the Dockers for atleast 3 weeks, still looks out of touch.

Unfortunately the coach of Claremont in 2003 seemed more intent on dragging Clive from the field and telling him to play his way than trying to help with his rehab back into AFL.

Had a great chat with him at the 2013 Grand Final day function at the Hilton (now Pullman). Ripping good bloke in addition to being our greatest cult hero, along with his #26 successor Kep. Kram is right, Ed is much too conventional, both in name and play, for the hallowed #26.

Need someone with a name like Wylie Buzza to do it justice...

If stupid is the FFC, Clive as pick #1 is confirmation

I was chatting to a woman the other day who is a personal friend of clive's. She reckons he was soooo professional. Would have him over for dinner. Wouldn't touch a drop of booze but could eat a horse.

Not sure if your having a shot here or not?

If you are then you need to educate yourself on him a little more.

I don't need to educate myself on anything, I saw him play a handful of good games amongst a pile of flakiness where he would do one or two good things a game and then be invisible. The Jake Stringer of his era. The injuries are rolled out as a convenient excuse and yes, he has a great highlights reel, but he was all tip no iceberg.

After Clive and Kepler, Ed Langdon is far too much of a conventional footballer to wear the number 26. Probably should be given to Cam McCarthy.
Cam would be a good fit. But a cult hero legacy is hard to pass on. Sadly had to end some time...

Rubbish. The draft was pilfered, he was number 1 pick after about 6-12 young players were removed. He was an excellent pick. Capable of the impossible and didn't excel in the normality.

Come on mate. You are not serious are you? He was a pretty average footballer and one of the worst number 1 selections in the last 20 years.

Except that Waterhouse wasn't selected in the last 20 years. He stacks up well to the no. 1 draft picks of his era. These include Anthony Banik, Stephen Hooper, John Hutton, Drew Banfield, Darren Gaspar, Jeff White, Michael Gardiner, Travis Johnstone, Des Headland and Josh Fraser. I can see at least 5 worse selections in that short list.

And because of the conditions proscribed by the AFL, the best of his age group weren't available. 7 underage players were taken the previous year including Matthew Lloyd, Adam Houlihan, Chad Morrison and Stephen King. There were 6 father-sons including Ben Cousins.

There were more successful players than Clive drafted in 1995, but not many. Matthew Primus (2), Barry Hall (19), Daniel Chick (25), Brent Harvey (47) is about it. Most years there would be more players rising from further down in the draft.

I just hope he has sons who play footy.

Exactly!!
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the selection.
In hindsight Matthew Primus would have been nice, however Clive was certainly the consensus pick 1 league wide.

Port loved him so much that through the SANFL club they offered him MASSIVE $$$ to stay put and wait for their AFL club.

Dunno why you're all saying that Ed is unworthy of the #26. Who else is called mostly by his one syllable first name, is bandy legged, and runs like the wind with his tongue sticking out like an eager little puppy? Might not be quite the cult hero of Clive and Kep, but he's hardly the most conventional player on the list...

He's the best fit for the #26 that we have IMO. :thumbsu:

Might not be the cult hero... yet. Give him time. Love the puppy tongue :)
