After a sluggish first quarter, the Eagles have lifted the tempo and now only trial by a kick late in the 2nd qrtr.

Peter Matera & Ben Cousins are doing well through the middle, and Andrew Embly is the only multiple goal scorer with two.

Writing this from work.
Got called in at the last minute (again).
Another Saturday afternoon game ruined.

Thank God the Derby's a Sunday Match.

I've got 6pr on in the background.
Karl Langdon is giving regular updates.

Half Time Scores:

West Coast - 8.5.53
Kangaroos - 7.4.46

Big comeback from the Eagles. Piled on six goals to one.

I'm not sure. I know that there are two eagles players in a bit of trouble, Wilson and McIntosh. One is on video (which the AFL won't have access to) and one was reported by the ump. A kanga also got reported for striking Caroll on the boundary line.

i heard karl langdon said a roo was reported but at a later stage said that it wasnt by an umpire it would have been on video

Sorry about that Jod. Had to log off for a while and get some work done.

Final Scores:

West Coast - 20.13.133
Fremantle - 10.9.69

Apparently it was a really physical match, with a few melee’s throughout the game.
Milli was reported for charging, and Willow might be done on video.
Brent Harvey is definitely gone. Belted Trent Carroll right in front of the umpire.

Our midfield was absolutely dominant. Cuzz, Kerr, Matera and Braun where all great.

Cuzz was best on ground according to Karl, and finished with four goals.
Embly and Merenda kicked three.

Great signs, and with Freo also winners over the Lions, it should be one hell of a Derby. Can't wait.

Well believe it or not, I had something else to do!  I was at work and was listening on the radio, clocked off just before it finished, came home and then went on the internet to see if we won.

Why don't you nick off 'Dockerbabe'.

As I explained in my first post, I was called into work, so I couldn't get to the game.
Adults have a little thing called responsibility, Kiddo.

Very sorry about writing Fremantle instead of the Kanga's.
I'm already thinking about the Derby. :)
Should be a similar scoreline.

Thanks Buzz....better late than never :D A very good win as i believe we were down most of the first half? Good to see Cuz getting into some form and kicking some goals. Hope Milli and Wilson get cleared....be a big loss for the Derby if we lose our FB and FF....

Simple. Eagle supporters can actually find employment during the year, while Docker followers take in the dole checks. :D

I think there were so many 'incidents' because one or two players may have been slanging off at each other (about whats happened during the week)

Just back from the game.

First the bad news :-
Milli reported
Cox has an injured knee. Came back as FF but got up twice limping.

I was surprised at the number of Kanga supporters, quite a few around us. Did we get the verbals going 3 goals down.!!!!!!!!!!
The wind was strong and had a major effect. Our third quarter performance was the difference, fourth quarter started with the wind and 3 goals up. Kangas were gone. And one Kanga supporter actually started crying four seats from me with ten minutes to go.

The good news :-
Humm was brilliant, he is a definate first teamer. Gaspar and Banners pulled up well but are not up to pace yet. Brauny was excellent again and Embley looks to have come on niceley. If I had to choose a player that didn't do very well it would be BB. Roo was special, but then again he is. Collica and Glass didn't play. Carrol in a hungry mongrel, no class but hes up his opponent all the time. Chambers improves every game and Fletch will get Brownlow votes this year. I could go on because it's so good to see the guys play so well.
From my view the Milli report was harsh. From my view Brent Harvey laid a king hit on ???????? I thought is was Kasey Green and should be rubbed out for 3 weeks.

After the game (the prologue).

We went to Subi market leaving the car in Kitchener park. On our return...........WOW......there was Roo getting to his vehicle. Porsche, BMW, Ferrari...you may ask??????? Nope, an old white Ute!!!!!!!!! Well we praised his game and chatted a bit. He didn't open up much. Cox's injury, theyll see how he pulls up Monday. Milli's report, he didn't see it but most of the guys didn't think there was much in it. He's going well, injury free 'touch wood'. Team spirit is better than for quite some time. Good new recruits. Woosha 'stamping his authority early'. Good things to say about Suma.

Great to talk to the legend.

i think it'd be quite a loss to have someone of McIntosh's calibre out of the Derby... hopefully he gets cleared

one thing i want to know from anyone that was there, is our midfield still reliant on Cousins or is the load being shared around, seems to me that Fletcher is doing a fair bit of work nowadays

Hope you're having a light-hearted dig there - you can't bag the Eagles supporters for being malicious about the Dockers and then write something like that

Lucky bastard :D

Did Kerr play and if so how did he go? And Judd, Sampi?

Well, dockerbabe, I was at the game and enjoyed it greatly. The Kangaroos were up by 4 goals when I eventually got into the ground (the people running the car parking were a cross between Dockers supporters and goal umpires - thick and wearing white coats).

We ran hard all day and went over the top of the Roos, who looked pretty dispirited by the end.

McIntosh is 50-50. It was a really ordinary high challenge, but I've seen many worse not reported. It was clumsy rather than malicious.

There was a big punch-up after the Harvey incident (Harvey - you're gone) and it was more than melee - there were punches thrown - Fletcher will I think be suspended if he was reported for that. Wilson I saw nothing. Good for flying the flag perhaps, but that lack of discipline could cost us a couple of players for the derby.

The whole team worked hard all day and, even though it didn't go right at first, they kept at it.

I was particularly pleased with Humm, Embley and Braun, all of whom will play in Round 1 I believe. Cuz was supreme, Kerr was in and under, Wirra brave and fast. Materas and Merenda very dangerous around goal. The only poor performances were Wilson, who dropped just about every mark and was clearly getting frustrated, but at least he makes a contest, and Banfield, who looked short of match fitness, but at least he had a run.

We didn't miss Gardiner at all with Cox and Tuckey in the side and he should grow up. Hopefully he'll come back in the derby with a vengeance.

To my mind, Haynes is now behind Embley and Williams for the half forward flank position. I've seen him preening himself around East Perth last year and he needs to realise quickly that so far he has done nothing in AFL and you don't get too many opportunities in life.

As in other games so far this year, the key has been attitude. Hard running at the footy and no fear of making mistakes, just help out your teammates. A good effort all round.
