Seems like sh*t hit the fan middle of last year, players went to CA with their issues and said they want Langer gone, CA said they'd have to live with him until his contract was up and tried mediation to resolve the worst of the issues, players agreed and continued to do their job professionally (winning WC and Ashes). Then when all the media noise about an extension started halfway through the ashes they made it clear to CA that they'd still prefer him gone while doing their best to keep things civil and avoid a shitfight while Langer was on his way out the door. Honestly Langer's apology for being too intense sounded passive aggressive as fu** to me
Well said

I'm not quite following the latest Langer stuff. He's pretty brutal on Cummins. Calls him a coward if I'm understanding it correctly.

Says he was angry that he didn't get feedback and had to instead read about problems in the paper rather than get feedback directly.

But then also claims that he acted on the feedback he received, had changed and was loving coaching.

Perhaps don’t lose TWO home series to India then

Or perhaps don’t drop Renshaw for Finch in a test and keep the bloke out.

Yay we won a who cares WC, woopiee

Pity we couldn’t even beat a useless England side away, a draw is not a win!

sigh

here we go again ....grumpy clown

just waiting for gnome...

we only won because of the toss blah blah blah

never change lads ..good old big footy :rolleyes:

Well the toss was a huge reason we did because we sure as anything are not a good t20 side

Langer wasnt really even the coach during that 20/20 WC we won even he admitted he had a massively reduced role in that time and the assistants were essentially running things and even if he was calling all shots(which he wasnt) but even lets say he was does that mean he not the players were responsible for the win? if so why are people blaming the players for this current wc? its the same group of players if its not their win last time how is the loss on them this time?

Unfortunately for you guys on BF you don’t echo the general public, and you haven’t answered my answer why do you reckon CA and the Aussie cricket team are on the nose can’t be the fall out from the Langer debacle surely.

It’s a hundred things not just one.

a) Saturation of BBL- I love the BBL but it’s 2 weeks too long at least
b) lack of FTA for ODI’s (now I like this but many don’t)
c) poor selection policy, too many players picked off past performances we only need to look at Finch getting a gig in the t20WC
d) Harder to get out than in for a National side, many players picked out of form

Yeah it was the only reason the poms won the t20 wc the toss plus the rain as they didn't get to play us ;)

Na they were the best side for years in t20

He's a weird, weird unit. Him and his Opus Dei brother in arms Hayden. Small man syndrome to the extreme in Langer's case. Should've been sacked after the second India series anyway. Any money we will see him plonked into a Liberal seat some time soon too.

I think regardless of how he was perceived, the whole thing was mishandled by all parties. Langer could have adjusted his methods, Cummins could have been more forthcoming earlier.

The real question is the role/non role of CA.

What active processes did/do they have in place to communicate with players & coaches on their view on things, regularly.

Open Formal/informal channels so they can keep abreast of what's going on in the player group & staff groups. Somewhere all views/grievances/opinions/ideas can be put,

The sort of thing you'd think a 'professional' group would/should have.

No one is arguing that the Australian public are not off the team. Just that their reasoning is not based in reality.

Who gives a shit what they think? this is the same general public who booed broad all summer for not walking of all things and wanted our players sacked over ball tampering when no other country gives a shit as they know its always been part of the sport and all sides do it, aussie cricket fans are a bunch of self righteous arseholes who usually dont even watch any cricket outside the home summer.

But they did do all that stuff? they had things in place to collect feedback they also had two separate independent reviews as well as multiple requests from CA directly to langer to tone things down, you can even find names of the ones who did reviews and then when you search their names(tim ford for example) you can even see langer quotes from 2021 when he was confronted with these reports none of this is new none of this unreported none of what langer says about not being told directly about the concerns is true.

Why is it langer fans here cant find any of this stuff themselves and simply say langer was blindsided and fired without cause? if you guys care so much about this stuff maybe take 5 seconds to research whats out there and what was done as none of it is secret.
