Lets try this as the game is going...for those who sit online and watch at the same time..or even those quarter by quarter coaches can throw in their suggestions...lets get some real time moves not after match ones

All out attack, with Lloyd and Lucas up front for the Bombers and the emotion of this weeks events we know Essendon will attack.
The inclusion of Gumbleton is an obvious ploy to stretch us with height considering Truck and Bassett are out. I'd be inclined to play Bock, McGregor and Stevens down back to try and cover Lloyd, Lucas and Gumbleton/Hille. I'm still trying to figure out if Gill's inclusion is to release Bock down back all game. That way we'd go with Welsh, Perrie and Gill as the key forwards. I'd like to think that it does but I'm not so sure if the coaching staff are thinking that.

The key for this game will be in the midfield. Our midfield must dominate the clearances and push back into defense to help out the defenders on their tall forwards. Essendon have had less inside 50's than their opposition in every game except the one against Richmond so it will be pivotal to try and strangle their inside 50's and push back hard when they do get in there and frustrate their forwards.

With the inclusion of Gill you would expect McGregor and Bock to probably go back, though one could float and play either forward or back depending on what we need most. McGregor on Lucas, Stevens on Lloyd and maybe Massie on Gumbleton when he is on. If Gumbleton is too tall and begins beating Massie then Bock needs to go straight back to defense.

Throw Johncock in the forward line again. We still missing Bode quite a bit with his inside 50 pressure and his crumbing abilities. Stiffy can fill in that role very well and with Lovett out of the Bombers side their should be less reason to have Stiffy back.

As much as I hate it when we drop numbers back behind the ball we may have to do it today. The Bombers have a very potent forward line and with our two best defenders out we must push back to help the backline out. If we get our hands on it in defense we must then run hard, straight up the middle and take the game on. If the Bombers do plan to drop numbers back we need to break the flood by kicking long and moving it fast, giving our forwards the best opportunity. This is probably Adelaide's last chance, so we must attack this game and go all out for a win.

Pre-game moves

McGregor v Lloyd
Bock v Lucas
Stevens v resting ruckman/Bassett role to help double team

Mattner & Reilly mostly on the wings.

Johncock up forward (& Macca if they tag him successfully). VB or Edwards to replace Stiffy down back.

Perrie lead up CHF & clear out space for Gill & Welsh to work deep. Burton to have a roaming forward role & of things aren't working, clear out FF & have him 1 out.

... but this game will be won in the midfield. Need Thompson & Goodwin at their best in close.

If McGregor plays in defence as anything other than a spare man or playing on Gumbleton - we're gawn IMO.

Start Welsh - Perrie - Gill - Burton forward

Start - Bock and Stevens on Lloyd and Lucas - Ken on Gumbleton.........IMO both our ruckmen need to stay on the ground for most of the game as Hille will rest forward.

McPhee's man will need to be accountable - won't surprise me if he gets Perrie and runs off him all day.

I want Mattner on the wing - but with Rutten and Bass missing - he and Massie are going to have a heap of 3rd man up work to do.

Memo to Craigy: If Gill and Campbell don't start on the ground - I'll spew up

LOOSE MAN IN DEFENSE NOW.

This is simple stuff. Give up a player in our forward line and let macca or someone roam free in the backline

Ok, we have to have a loose man in defense. Because for one we need to shut down the leads of Lloyd and also we need to get the run happening into our forward line.

Good come back by the crows. I just wish Crows/Gill(haha) could kick straight. Essondon never miss!

McGregor in the rooms

Tell the midfield to win and use the ball

What's the go with Kenny?

I'd put Bock on Lloyd, and have Stevens double teaming him, but playing five-ten metres in front. If we can shut down Lloydy, we'll win.

Have a midfielder cover Gumbleton.

Maric is a gun.

Leave it as it is.....

Stevens hasn't been too bad on Lloyd......all Lloyd's opportunities have come from soft efforts in the midfield.

The only thing I'd be doing at qtr time is thanking Massie for his contribution to the club.....and making a note to buy some tackle bags on Monday......as it might be a good idea to teach some of the players how that part of the game works.

Gill has been fantastic - it's great to have a tall forward with sound motor skills for a change.

I like this. The way the ball is moving it seems that they are bypassing Lucas and Gumby. Massie on Gumby , Stevens minding Lucas but also dropping back
