I'm wrapt if we get Chad back as a assistant of some description. Feel he will add a lot to this group. Seems a few other aren't

I'm all for Chad working under Burgo as the strength coach for the 1-4 year players but being the senior coach of the Maggies just seems like the wrong role. Mark Clayton deserves the promotion.

Is it wrong that the idea of a Cornes free Port Adelaide for at least 5 minutes was appealing to me?
Nope, even Kane's book showed they still aren't completely sold on the club.
It's an unnecessary risk, maybe in a year or two.

He is already back line coach at GWS, so why wouldn't he be suitable? But agree Clayton has been outstanding.

It may be that I'm worried about who will replace Rondinelli. I really want our squad to put on some muscle.

Cornes (a fine specimen in his own right) going into that role and bulking up the young lads as well as learning stuff under Burgo seems like a great fit.

Clayton took the under 18's to a prelim in 2013, and this year the Academy team will reach the prelim at minimum.

There was a part in the Open Mike where Chad described how Buddha Hocking had organised for every player on the list to write something about Chad on his departure from the Club. He was stunned to see how much the younger guys in the club thought of him considering he'd given them short shrift in his time. In his words 'they had to earn their stripes'.

It struck me as quite a learning experience for Chad. It would be interesting to ask him whether that experience and his time at GWS has changed his point of view on how a young list or team need to be integrated with experienced players. I've no doubt KT would be all over this like a rash. He's nobody's fool.

If you'd told me say 5 years ago that Stewart Dew would be one of the AFL's hottest properties as an assistant coach I have would giggled my arse off.

Who here can say with any certainty how Chad has matured and what sort of coach he will make?

He was not overly kind in his comments when leaving the club. I am in no hurry to see him back. Be like asking Chaplin to be our backline coach after he retires.

PORT Adelaide AFL premiership hero Chad Cornes is keen on a grand return to Alberton as the Magpies SANFL coach.

Cornes, 35, tonight confirmed he would meet with officials at Port Adelaide — where he played 239 AFL games from 1999-2011 — when he returns to Adelaide from Sydney on Friday.

“We’ll meet ... we’ll discuss the possibilities ... but we’re not quite there yet,” Cornes told advertiser.com.au.

Oh, and we gave him no reason to be bitter towards us at all.

Times have changed, the old crew that ****ed him over are gone, I would love to see Chad back home working with us in any capacity, he could do a great job firing up our young lads.

Shame on you .. How you can say having chad back is akin to Chaplin coming back is a disgrace.

Chad was a champion of our club

Honestly, very disappointed at some of the comments being made towards Chad, especially after the way this club screwed him over, someone who had previously given everything to us.

He is and always will be a champion of the club and if coaching is something he is pursuing we should be the ones to nurture that.

He flogged the club on the way out. Unacceptable, regardless of his reasons. Some of you have very short memories.
