I've got to say that I'm full of admiration for the coaching job Craig and the boys did on Saturday against Carlton.

It looked a pretty tough scenario for a while. Carlton with all the early momentum. One ruckman injured. Stiffy looking underdone for touch and fitness.

To rotate the forward line (particularly the half fowards) to give Pez enough rest that he could spell Huddo; to still give the midfielders the rotations they needed to recuperate, given one bench spot less than they would like, and to make the right defensive moves to quell most of the Carlton spotfires, was IMHO a really good day at the office.

The match day boys have improved this year.

You have to wonder how much of this is due to Peter Jonas becoming part of that group this year.

Its definetly improved and what ever the reason is, its a bloody good thing ;)

Carrazo giving Tyson a bath, so lets move him into the forward line. Waite is giving Bassett a bath so lets make a switch and move Rutten to him. Carlton are getting a run on and Bock is not getting near it, so lets move him back to defence for a while to get him a bit more involved.

I for one am happy with the match day coaching, sepecially in the last couple of games where Craig had to make moves in order to win. At one point on Saturday he send McLeod forward for a little while.

Started Jericho on the wing before moving him forward to give us that bit of spark in the 2nd quarter that was much needed.

Its was a great display of match day coaching that didn't compromised the structure as so many previousy suggested it would. And to do it with a struggling Johncock and a ruckman/forward option short is one bloody good effort.

What ever its getting done in the coaches box, keep it up :thumbsu:

I think watching the Crows game and then going to watch the Essendon v Richmond game that night really brought home the difference in coaching styles and also players abilities.

I have mentioned it elsewhere but at one stage Fletcher had a mismatch in the backlines and he looked like a little lost rabbit who didn't know where to go or what to do and had to wait for instructions to move him to another player. Contrast this with our teams ability to move themselves before the coaching staff could think about the different scenarios.

I have only watched the first half but I noticed that McLeod was having a discussion with Craig at the end of the quarter time huddle and I wonder who suggested the move to the wing - him or Craig?

Edwards has been playing up forward pretty much all season at different stages of each game. So I wouldn't call that a master stroke just the normal rotations that already exist.

It was the change to the forward rotations with our talls that I was impressed with, we still didn't lose our normal rotation policy too much but was done in such a way that Perrie was still able to be part of the forward line as well as giving Huddo and him rest time.
