Nathan Buckley gone at Collingwood (sorry Jen2310 ) should we look to get him to replace Josh Francou?
It was time. The club needs some fresh eyes. But no doubt he wont be out of a job too long. But I suspect he could go into media.

I think he will in the media pretty quickly. For sure he will be commentating during the Finals. I wouldn't be ruling out the next few weeks either for any broadcaster.

Was just thinking to myself I have been enjoying not seeing incomprehensible and incoherent babble lately 🤣 to be truthful I don’t even read his posts I just keep scrolling haha. Got sick of trying to decipher and code crack his messages it hurt my brain 🤣

Give Dew to the end of his contract next year and then assess. He has a year to get this team playing well and work on his deficiencies.

With all due respect, I'm not so sure about that. If he has already lost the troops and support of his coaching staff why keep him for another year and prolong the inevitable of him leaving? Why not get on the front foot at the end of this season, test the market and see if there is a coach that would fit well? Someone who can change our culture from the top down and develop our young guns.

Sick of us being a basket case, we need to sort it out. The talent on our list and where we sit on the ladder is unacceptable - we should've been pushing for the 8 or at the very least be in the pack chasing the 8. We should've beaten Adelaide, Carlton, St. Kilda and I believe Freo was a winnable game if we actually turned up to play. I mean if we could whoop Sydney who sits firmly in the 8 what was the excuse for the 4 games I mentioned above? All were beyond winnable.

All I want is to see us play at our full potential week in and week out like I know we are capable of. And for our coach to get the best out of ALL of his players.

The issue here is that IF (and we don't know for sure) the players have deserted Dew - then it is more critical that we do our best to stabalise the ship - and retain the players who are more likely to depart (King, Anderson, Lukosius and Rankine for starters). It's less of a disaster to replace the coach than it is to replace (again) all our top draft picks. Hard decision to be made and not wait until end of 2022 when King, Luksius etc may already be lost to us due to contract renewal dates.

Player development doesn’t concern me as most of the young talent have shown improvement.
Our game plan is extremely taxing for a young team and the high possession high marking style is fine if you’re in control of the game. Effort / pressure off slightly and we really struggle.
With our high end exciting talent and surplus of wing/outsiders I’m surprised we aren’t more daring as we’ve shown at times we can move the ball quickly and cleanly.
A coach always loses some players during a season. Big difference though on whether it’s those missing out on a game or those in the best 22.

1-Dew contracted for next year and sacking the Coach is a basket case thing to do
2-I think both Buckley and Clarkson would be more likely to be available at the beginning of 2023 than the beginning of 2022.
Normally that would be correct but if it meant holding on to the top end young talent - let's wait and see what evolves over the next 12 weeks or so.

Agree.
IF, and thats an if, the rumours are right then we'd make a move sooner rather than later. Player exodus is hard to stop once it starts.

Also If Clarkson re-signs as expected - then that leaves Mitchell who is extremely highly touted looking for a gig elsewhere.
Evans has a pretty good relationship with him.

We need something exciting in this next 12 weeks.
Jeffrey to debut, Hollands to show us his talent, unexpected win etc

Look I'm sure eppo has a trustworthy source at least to him, and I know the club might try to hide certain aspects from the media but I have confirmed with 2 members of that media whom I back as really good journalists Tom Boswell and fish Whiting. Both have said their is no issue between Francou and dew, the club is very much aligned offield and onfield with no sign of players being lost.

Some players may arguably feel hard done by when not getting a run but that is only natural. Mcpherson was seen to be getting 1 on 1 time with Dew working on his kicking today and the club has settled on fiorini as an inside mid.

I'm sure Dew isn't perfect as this is his 1st go at senior coaching but we can't panic over a few bad losses otherwise we will end up like carlton who have been down for over 20 years because of impatience.

Judge Dew on next season.

That's what I like to hear and feel more at ease after reading this. Cheers.

OK absolutely the last thing l'm Saying on the matter.
Those media guys are being fed absolute BS.

If we have no coach or reset with a new one guarantee we lose players. Stability even with a shit coach is far better for retention. If we sack Dew this year we are definitely back to basket case and wouldn't begrudge anyone for leaving.

Agreed. It make no sense to jump at things now. At least at the end of the season you get the full picture of where we’re at. With our record after the bye, even 2-4 wins would keep players and fans happy til next season.
The expectations will definitely rise for next season though, no matter what happens

Players will leave regardless - there's always some movement but we can't afford the likes of King, Luko, Rankine etc to head home. Players will stay dependent upon who a new coach is - for example Clarkson / Buckley etc would draw players rather than lose them - while another untried coach would probably not retain them. I suspect we're stuck with Dew and his 22% record for now - but will watch with keen interest how things evolve over the next weeks.
