Guys Hinkley is very short odds, is actively engaged in discussions with us and unhappy at Port - wants to come
Hinkley used to live 2 doors down from me when i lived in Robina , spoke to him a couple of times and is a top fella . When he did leave he did'nt put his home on the market just rented it , might ask the old neighbours to keep me updated if those tenants are moving soon.;)

:( he has done nothing with port why would we want him?

Done nothing? Bit harsh.
Had 2 really good years, his first 2 years.
Won a final in year 1, lost the prelim to the Hawks in year 2 by 3 points. Both with teams that were not thought to be that good.
Not bad this year. Not top shelf, but certain finalists in an even year is pretty good.

Not sure he is the coach for us (have to trust the decision makers), but has 2 things in his favour.
One, experience at the GC. Would not be surprised about much.
Two, experience with an outspoken chairman.

Eyes wide open, on both fronts.

I used to watch a fair bit of training in the McKenna years
Hinkley always seemed to be the "coach"
Cajoling the players praising them roasting them
Always impressed me
For the reasons above he comes well prepared and would know what has to change and how to do it

I don't want him here, but **** I'd laugh if he left Port after cockface Dixon went there because of their relationship.

Hinkley doesn't make sense - we had poor standards when Hinkley was here that Rocket had to fix up. Would be akin to bringing Bluey back on.

I'd think the AFL would be savvy enough to know we have one more good crack at this and the appointment must be correct, and must generate a little excitement amongst the GC public. Their hands will be all over this contract. I don't think a first time coach addresses the urgency we have up here for success.

My concern about Dew is that his training standards as a player were poor, and to a large extent relied on natural ability to get by. Exactly the attitude we need to train out of our players.

If he's the man make him an offer he can't refuse. Simple
