AFL Club
Richmond
Was down in melbourne on the weekend so i thought i would check out the Coburg match - gotta admit, i was largely unimpressed with most of the performances.

Collard looked incredibly lazy as did Hughes. JON continues to look like anything but a footballer, Graham the same.

Hughes has got to learn that unless he can work harder when he isnt getting the ball delivered to him, then he isnt good enough to play AFL.

I was though really impressed with Rance, Polo, Meyer & Connors. Rances work rate is excellent - continues to run his arse off from full back to the CHF to help create space for his teammates, Meyer is certainly not soft, and his strength really suprised me & Connors was one of the only players for Coburg that looked like he wanted to try and take the game by the scruff of the neck.

But many of our younger blokes need to pull there head in a bit, their effort after half time was pissweak - for what was an elimination final, their intensity was rubbish.

Also, that umpiring was asolutely ****ing pitiful, that guy should be given the arse

Q: why didnt Jackson play for the burgs? he would have been a massive help with his body mass.

I must say Im more confident Meyer will be a handy player for us now than I was 12 months ago. Has a bigger body and is hard at it. Looks like he has the smarts too.

Yea I always believed he'd make it! I'm sure we'll keep him and he'll play 20 or so matches next year. I like him over Raines anyway. Think we should trade Raines, not for us! He's got more speed and skill!

I continue to be amazed at this view, for mine, unless he is working hard to get to enough contests he will never be any good, my knock on Hughes right now is he cant seem to get more than 8 or 9 touches, this needs to be improved by 50% to crack it as an AFL reg...Once he gets there, we can work on the defensive pressure but he can be the best haggler in the ****en business, amounts to nothing if he cant kick more than 1-2 g a game

so you are suggesting that someone that can get 0nly 8 or 9 touches in the VFL now, only has to bring it up to 12 or 14 by working hard in the VFL, and then he is good to go in the AFL correct? I guess we have the next big thing then.
Gotta feeling it would be more of a positive to finding an AFL player when each week he would return, at a minumum a bag of 5, with regular bags of 7 or 8 and doing it easy, instead of busting his butt. If your gonna bust your butt at VFL level, to get to an average output, then you are a Coburg player at best and it goes down from there. ;)

And if we don't have a player kicking 120 goals a year for Coburg Cogga, then what do we do? We pick the best out of the players on our list. Which is currently Cleve.

On sat he he kicked 4 and is the leading afl listed forward in the VFL this year, it would pay for you to be a little more multi dimensional in your thinking that the tunnel vision "shit can" approach , swallow a couple of prozac and get back to us

No we don't accept mediocrity and move that player on and bring in another to see if they have what it takes.

Some people don't see him as mediocrity, but even if he was, we don't want to leave ourselves without a big forward while we go hunting for a new one. Most people here would actually rather Richmond do well, as opposed to coming 16th.

yep that says it all...we are on a roll..we have become the experts in conjuring up accolades to suit....he played 13 games for 33 and tom hawkins played 8 for 31...we are laughing arent we? Get real dude...you are taking over from TW as the spin doctor. FFS, tivendale played 2 more games than him in the 2s and has 32 goals...me thinks you need to revisit the meaning of the words multi dimensional.
He has just outdone Tiv and he plays as a key forward in a team that made the finals, if that is where you hang your hat when it comes to "rating" this dude then you need to get real and forget about the multi dimensional stuff.
FFS, Cain Ackland had 30 and played the same amount of games...;)

yeah and i guess when they do, then those that you suggest dont, wont have any grounds to voice their opinions, on why they arent fool.
Oh i get it, by what you are suggesting, over in the cats forum, there are a mutlitude of people arguing about why they arent good enough yet, correct? ;)

Not for a minute cogg, I contest bullshit with precision like a surgeon with a scalpel, you may respond with a barrage of BS, none of it sticks and is almost always way offbeam but hey there are those that still believe that man never landed on the moon either, it's all a mirage pal isn't it:rolleyes:

naaa man, you see i put forward cold hard facts..i.e. proven...you cough up hope and dreams...which align themselves to BS.
What was that stat you used again? Oh...yeah...he is the highest afl listed goal kicker in the VFL...bwahhaaaahhaaaa....woopee doo dude. ;)

Cogga I would fathom a guess that 95% of the people who have read your posts disagree with almost everything you say.

Being generous too.

Yeah i watched that game too and i must say no one really stood out for me except connors.

On the RFC website ,previous to the game, the story was that Coughlan would be the key so i went along for interests sake to see what he had and i gotta tell ya he was almost no existant. It was Connors and even Cartledge that stepped up.

In a game when you want your stars to lift, Coughlan was no where to be seen. From where i was sitting it didn't look like he had a tagger taking him out of the game. He just looked confused and repeatedly watched Connors run past him with the ball.

ok , so when we go and draft a kid , we ignore anything that suggests he might be the best player in U18s in favour of some convaluted ^#$%$ of a measure, that spits out selections such as Fiora...hmm, makes sense Cogg, whats up with you anyway pal, it's not like you to disagree with everything I say, there was a time when there was an honour amongst thieves:confused:

relax man...its the off season...if we all agreed on things then there would be nothing to argue about...;)

Cleve needs to toughen up.

First step is lose the 1980's new kids on the block hairstyle and replace it with a barry hall buzz cut.

In fact while we are at it - am i the only person who is uncomfortable with the whole "Matrix men" thing. Memo Gary March ditch them as our shorts sponsor and find a tyre company that would agree to sponsor us.

I heard word a few weeks we were in strong negotiations with a new shorts sponsor but I'm not sure if it was to replace Matrix Men or to simply live along side Matrix Men.

But you might be in luck Peej, you just might be. :)

Some would rather win a premiership.
