Just a heads up for all of you that the coach is "On the Couch" at 8.30pm tonight (foxtel) with Healy - Walls - and Mr Sheehan.

Should be interesting to see if he's eaten before he goes on - he might get the munchies halfway through the interview and pull out a subway footlong.

On a serious note - I hope they ask him about Hawkins. My sources tell me that although he's being rested there is some concern that they might not have got him early enough before diagnosing stress fractures in the foot. If that's the case then we might not see the big boy again this year.

Leaves us a bit thin if Mooney / Lonergan get injured (or in Mooney's case - suspended)

Enter N.Ablett :p

Nathan rolled his ankle playing basketball ................... besides / he's that far away from being able to play senior football (fitness wise) that he'sd have to get a chair and plonk himself in the goal square cos there'll be bugger all chasing or leading up the ground.

Come to think of it .......... just about the way Hawkins plays so maybe not a bad idea.

Is this injury similar in any way to Egan's?

Are they not handling their big young guys well with training loads, footwear, etc...?

Nothing like Egan's injury I'm told ........... that was my first question also.

It's common old stress fractures ...... some people get 'em - others don't. You might recall he had the same problem last year so they're aware of it an monitor it regularly. At least they're not letting it advance too far before intervening ........... no point running the risk of long term damage. Egan had a full crack in the bone wheras Hawkins scans are precautionary and just showed a "hot spot" which is usually (but not always) the first sign of a stress fracture.

My brother is already calling him "the September specialist".

As much as we all know its not going to happen......If there was ever a person who could come in, after not playing a game the whole year (with out injury) it would be an Ablett :p

Oh wait....didnt Mooney do that at the roo's ?

Nixon was asked about him on FC last week and he said 3-4 weeks.

If Nablett is going to play a game this year. Might as well be the Grand Final.

"It's just unfair, not right that a player should come over from the Mod's junior fc pie night and dominate a whole quarter of football in the 2008 Grand Final - Boo Hoo!!!"

Could you imagine the Hawthorn board melting if Ablett was brought in for the GF, kicks 6.1 while Buddy kicks 1.6 and the cats win?

I think they would be monitoring his foot pretty heavily because he's had the problem since he was in year twelve, i doubt they would let it get under their guard.
