It's tough, cos in so many cases it's comparing apples to oranges. I mean, it's hard to know where aging players who've missed a fair chunk of football (Ant and Presti) rate compared to young guns. If Ant were to return fully fit and recapture his best, he'd be in the top half-dozen, no problem. But I suspect he won't, so I've rated him down. Then there's a young player like Rusling. In the five minutes he's been on the field he's been pretty exciting. But how does he rate compared to a workhorse like Maxwell or stalwarts like Lockyer? Stuffed if I know. Then there are players like Thomas and Clarke who are clearly on the improve and are clearly gonna be better players than O'Bree. But right at this moment how do they stack up? I'm not an O'Bree fan, but he's been underrated in this thread IMO. While unfashionable and frustrating, he is probably our best player at getting first hands on the footy, and that shouldn't be undersold.

My general observation is that people are underrating Travis Cloke. Last year he was our B&F and our best-performed finals player. This year he lost Ant midseason and had to carry an enormous workload without much relief. Clearly one of our top three IMO. Swan is also being underrated by some. And I can't be bothered getting into yet another slanging match over Maxwell, so I'll just say I rate him a fair way below some and leave it at that.

I am certainly not in agreeance with the most important part. After both Didak and Shaw were suspended we went on to win 3 out of 5 if memory serves me correct including a finals match. I think if we had lost only one of Swan or Cloke for that period of time we would have struggled to win a game.

I think Didak is our best player, marginally ahead of Swan and Cloke. But if we're talking about 'most important', then I think it's Cloke.
