Roast Collingwood

I've noticed that as the evening progresses, I'm less inclined to want all the coaches to be sacked and half the players traded. I think when I wake up tomorrow, I'll just want Lumumba traded and Blair dropped off the list..back to normal..

After watching todays game I feel very frustrated for Collingwood
IMO they were clearly the better side. The game should of been over at half time.
The fact that they would of pretty muched secured a top 8 position at put themselves in the mix for top 4 is devastating.
If Collingwood are any good they will come out firing next week and win.

Normally I wait until later in the week to jump on this board. Later in the week when dust has settled and cooler heads prevail. This week it's different... I'm in need of an answer...why was this game's result so bloody disappointing? I didn't even feel like this after Freo's flogging or the unexpected loss to the Dullbogs. Was it the myriad missed opportunities? Was it the inability to run over a team with no bench? I'm not even dwelling on Young's dropped mark...if that was at the start of the match it would hardly be noticed. I know teams have their set-ups and set plays but the continual lack of "manning-up" when the opposition has the ball is beyond frustrating!
Maybe...it's just the stark realisation that we are a bit rooted.:(
Anybody?

Well that did not happen after the Dogs Game. We should of won that game too

I agree. That this is the Worst loss we had. We Dominated the Game around the Ground but go Forward and we could not hit a Broad Side of a Barn, Then Ablett goes off and then they lose 3 other players. We had 3 extra players and we still could not F**king Win.

Freo Game - Start of Season and just shown Freo was Better. Dogs well we never much in front of the game. Always Trailing

Young is quite possibly the dumbest player on our list along with Keefe, i cringe everytime both get the ball.

We need to be pushing these type of guys out of the 22 before we get better
The sadist in me was happy that it was him that dropped that mark , heartless overrated campaigner.

The Cloke miss just before Hal time was a shocker too.

There is a massive over-reaction in this thread. It came down to skill. We had the chances to win and just isn't take them.

I will say one thing that really does annoy me... Everytime a team wins against collingwood it is like this huge big inspirational deal, ya know? Against Adelaide it was them showing their fans that they could make top 8 this year and the Crows of 2012 were still there somewhere, with the Bulldogs it was showing their fans that the process is working - they're getting there! Have faith! And now against GC it is that they can win against all the odds and without Ablett...

Every time someone beats Collingwood, it is literally a back page story (or a front page story!)... AFL 360 and all the other footy shows will be talking about how amazing GC were for the next week or month! It has already been dubbed their best win ever!
Yet if Collingwood beats someone in a close one it's like "oh, yeah, Collingwood won... Next"....

Kinda sucks barracking for the team that the whole world hates!

Yep - We almost need to do a Re-Build

This feels awful. We are not playing well; but underperforming? Maybe. Maybe not. Most didnt pick us to win this game - including many on here. And then we lose, with no forward line, kick 9 or 10 points straight, Gold Coast are three men down. Thats footy, thats Collingwood, take you up and then let you down. Happened before, will happen again. Lost 3 of last 4 games: major reality check.
I could clean out 15 blokes that will never win a flag for us.

I disagree with comments that we were the better side.

Once again they had no bench and they still beat us, they would have smashed us if they had a full bench. Turning the ball over going forward and having more inside 50s doesn't make you the better side.

Using the ball well and taking your chances when you go forward is what makes you a good side. There is absolutely no excuse for the loss to GC. We were beaten by a better side and there is a reason why most people tipped them to beat us.

We will win enough games to make the eight but I am afraid this season is shaping up to be identical to last year. A pretty decent start to the season and slowly fall away as the season progresses.

Swan needs to go btw. He is a nothing player now days, now longer has an influence on games and with out influencing games he becomes a liability due to his poor attitude. His attitude as always been casual but at least he could perform and no one could criticise him, that can't be said no more. It hurts me to say that about my favourite current player but he is cooked.

Better change your avatar.
I agree we will be out by week 1 of the finals if we are in the 8. We will be the most uncompetitive team in the 8.
The last month has been a disgrace.

I don't even want us to make the finals anymore. It's embarrassing to watch us lose when a team can't even rotate a player in the last quarter.

First time, long time guys. Glad to be a part of it.

Deary me, Keeffe. For a bloke who has a position of "power" at the club (leadership group), he is embarrassing, just plain and simply not up to it.

Seedsman, Lumumba, Thomas, Blair - these guys need some serious reserves time.

Kennedy was the only positive from the night for me, such a disappointing effort overall really.

I thought thought Thomas did well considering everyone else couldn't even stand up. 30% game time, 10 disposals at 90% and that goal. I would not put him in the reserves on that particular performance. I would drop Swan and keep Thomas.

This forum is incredible.

Six weeks ago everyone was saying how on track we are, development's going great, our young guns are coming through.

And after a few sour weeks, let's trade half the team and sack the coaching panel!

Chill out people!

We are a young side, we're in transition (our older players are losing their edge and the young ones are still finding their feet), we're finding our mix, which means we're not going to be consistent. We were always going to stumble towards the end of the season, that's what happens when a side is in development and exceptionally young like ours.

Some of the youngsters are working out, some aren't. It's up to our coaching staff to develop a system whereby players can slot in and do their job (i.e. Geelong and Hawthorn), but that system is still very much in development, so such results shouldn't be a surprise.

Go to sleep, wake up tomorrow, and calm down.

Your correct about a lot of what you say. I think the anger stems from the fact that it is the experienced guys who are spudding it up. Young, Cloke Blair Lumumba, Swant etc.
If the mistakes were coming from the young guys I think people would be much more tolerant and patient.

Sure, then if that's the case, we have some positives to take out of it.

If it turns out that our younger guns are eclipsing our more senior players, then you'll find the younger players becoming a more permanent fixture in the team. If the coach knows what he's doing, that is.

Young team with inexperienced players we will have lapses. Gold Coast are a great team it's no shame. Let's get games into the good kids and have a crack soon.

I'm a little bit baffled as to why Keeffe cops so much heat on here. Was only clearly beaten on one, perhaps two occasions and that will happen as a key back. He did some great things in the air and hit some beautiful targets, unlike most of team.

Defence is the least of out problems IMO. How about our severely overrated midfield that lost just about every key centre clearance when game was on line??

Midfield is barely AFL standard. Every week it gets smashed.

I do not know what needs more urgent attention though, the forward line or the midfield.

Personally if I were the coach it would be midfield.

Backline this year has been exceptional considering the degree of experience there.

I'm as passionate as any pies supported, and am bitterly disappointed in last nights result as well. But the typical over reaction after a loss - sack Bucks; trade half the list blah blah blah.

We're not far off it and with some injection of class over the next couple of seasons will most likely bea competitive top 4 team.
