Two of the best sides in the comp combined and we still couldn't field a CHF worth a pinch of shit.

You should do the Crows/Norwood, or Crows/Sturt, or Crows/Glenelg, then you could have a reserves team, the way it should have been done from the word go.

Mean old SANFL, *sniff*, *sniff*. Everyone has got in for you guys, poor things. whoa was me,

What are you raving about?

Once the Crows were formed, they should have been aligned with one of Norwood, Sturt or Glenelg as the Crows reserve team. Then all the Crows players would have been kept within the Crows system, rather than the hassles they had to endure with the SANFL clubs in 1991, 92, 93, etc, the way it should have been done from the word go.

I agree but that would have not and never will work cause 80 percent of the exsisting supporters will drop off.Same as what will happen with port adelaide if the power take them on [or over]

Maybe, but footy supporters are a generational sort of thing

The Crows were formed nearly 20 years ago now, there are many young people in the workforce that have grown up with the Crows, obviously the AFL product being superior to the SANFL product, so that part of society will have none of the old SANFL hangups.

That group of people, say between the ages of 15 to 25, usually are a targeted audience, young, trendy, with disposable income, and all of them had no competition to chose from, the Crows being the "only game in town".

So if the hard decisions were made from the word go, having a reserves Crows team play in the SANFL, things would be a hell of a lot better of for footy in this state.

The model I would have chosen would have had the Crows take over Sturt, who were in trouble around the late 1980's early 1990's if memory serves correctly. Then all the Crows players would be in the one environment, in the seniors or reserves. The same for Port when they entered in 1997, with the Port Magpies being the reserve team for the Power.

In my opinion if those hard decisions had been made nearly 20 years ago, footy in this state would be so much stronger financially, for all levels of the sport.

I agree no argument here but what i am saying if that decision had been made back then or if it is made now it aint going to work.

For every Glenelg supporter i know that follows both glenelg and Adelaide i know just as many who either have other AFL teams or no AFL teaI would love for us to have a reserves side but for that to happen they would have to sell the good sell to a exsisting club or become the tenth side and goes without saying port become port that is simple.

I for one would not care if that happend [port become port]and we stay as is

I agree with you but it aint going to happen while my bum heads south

Yeah, probably wouldn't work now, but I feel filthy about it coz I believe a great opportunity was missed out on in 1991, and even 1997.

Especially when a club like Sturt was in such financial trouble, having the Crows move in on them in 1991 may even have been seen as a godsend by some of the double blues back then

But it's probably gone now, you know what they say about hindsight.

Frightening to think Mooney has three premiership gongs round his neck now. He didn't gather a stat in the first one I believe! Now he may reel in Pikey next season.

No they shouldn't - would be a silly idea to align the Crows to an SANFL club as would alienate supporters of other clubs & also mean the end of the club chosen operating as they were. I would not be happy as a Bays supporter if we lost our identity as a Crows reserves team. If the Crows were to have a consolidated team in the SANFL, it should be as the Crows not Norwood, Glenelg or Sturt, etc.

However, the current system works OK (much better now with good communication between AFC & SANFL clubs) & has it's advantages as can play more than 1 player in the same position. eg. We have had Moran, Maric & Griffin all playing in ruck on the same weekend.

Why have most people put Moran ahead of Maric?
Because Moran was leading our rucks before he was injured. Has more upside than Maric IMO & more suited to our gameplan playing as a tall midfielder (tho I would play both).

Perhaps, I still have Maric's fumble against the Pies in my mind, as I think that was a match changing moment.
