And remember we lost the Jack Dyer tribute game, Melbourne were pathetic and lost the Stynes tribute game and the Doggies were no better losing the Ted Whiten tribute game.

Yes - but we were in our final games with Frawley when we lost the Dyer, Melbourne were the weakest club in the league by a country mile when they lost of the Stynes games & The doggies were only a middle level team, who had to travel over to Perth when they lost the Whitten game - and the emotional trauma and the relevance Ted had on that playing group was much more profound than what ours had with Hafey...emotionally the doggies build up was much more draining, personal & exhausting - no one will forget Hawkins reaction on the footy show, & even though he was at the lions by that point, THAT was the relevant impact Whitten had on that team

Our situation was completely different. We were by far meant to be the better team, we were playing last years spooners & not only was the game important for Hafey, it was a chance for us to get our season back on track against a much weaker opponent at our home ground. It was by the the worst of all these examples you gave. This was meant to be a team that was 12- 18 months away from being the next hawthorn or geelong. Clearly we are light years from that comparison now.

It actually saddens me to think of that game as i really don't think our boys quite "got" what it meant to people and why Tom was so great. I really wish that day Jake King was fit to play as he of all people understands Tom's philosophy's and would have not been intimidated by that legacy - but inspired by it. I put that came down in my top few most disappointing performances and results for this club - and they have left me pretty frigging disappointed over the years, let me tell you!

Players contracts at Big O 's level are largely calculated because of match payments Flea , for the 8 out if 9 games Hampson has kept Big 0 out of the side based on potential and not actually earning his spot Big O has been fiddled about 3k per game . Imagine what his mates around the club think of that? The same thing happens at poorly run grass roots clubs when the club drafts the next big thing and he doesn't perform yet he's on 700 a game . Just give it up mate your talking nonsense .
Rubbish, so you think he is saying to players geez that bloke is costing me money? Spare me. The guy wasn't going to play at all and go back to the normal work force. The year before he only played about 5 games, so was he doing this last year? No mate I call bollox.

Yeah quality is a different argument that what we were talking about tho. I like the idea we had, just went too far with it. The early types were ok, just the last few I didn't want, hell I didn't want Hampson either but I did want his 'type'. Either way, some will let go at seasons end.
You said he was recruited to be a useful assistant for Maric
We argued for days on the relevance of Hampson I'm glad you've realised that DH failed again with this guy

I am happy to persist with Hardwick longer - i am not going to call for sackings based on this 1 season. Perhaps he needs a superior who is sterner to make him more accountable though, as every week he seems to be acknowledging publicly something he got wrong or could improve on. It could mean 2 things - he either understands his weaknesses and knows what to work on - of perhaps, due to his honesty, we all are starting to get a good idea of his overall limitations. The argument has been around for a while that perhaps he has taken us as far as we can go. If he leaves now, he could still leave knowing his time here was successful and still have hope getting a head coaching gig for teams trying to steer through a difficult rebuilding process - but ultimately replaced once the team has reached his limitations for a "big time" coach, ala like Phil Jackson in the NBA

I would have no problem though him wanting another crack next season to improve himself, but my word he would have a hard gig as he definitely would have to cull 7 or so of those apparent "depth players" he recuirted himself and replace them with new draftee's. The only new "immediate impact" player he could possibly go for would be an A or B+ grade Free Agent - which may or may not be available or suitable for our needs. Another year with no finals would mean not only his job gone, but most likely his career and reputation.

Its a massive call for him personally. Facts show, once you get sacked by Richmond, you coaching days and reputation are over.
There is no chance he would quit, so he will go again next year. He does have a contract for another 2 years, but if next year is no finals I could see the club moving him on, and I think that is fair. 1 poor season(relative) means he should get a reprieve. I do agree with the culling as I have said we need 2 more drafts.

im saying big o and everyone close to him which easily includes 12 players think Hampson is a joke and he's cost Big o games and money there fore we have a huge problem. If only Hardwick had of picked teams on form

Now you want to talk about training form??? I nominate you as the next Mod for this board .

Vote one for Flea
So you wouldn't take any notice of training? What would be the point in doing that then? If those players( that aren't playing) aren't performing on the track and in the 2's do you think they should play 1's? That was my point.

I'm happy for them to blow my Fighting Tiger fund money on paying him out . I reckon Dimma will be a good bloke and settle for 300k a year . Make it happen Peggy

You've got no point

one thing that stands out in my mind was when my cousin said to me: "Richmond will always bring you pain" I never asked him what he mean't, however perhaps what he meant is raising it's ugly head again down at Tigerland? Perhaps what he said is one of the reasons Richmond has struggled for the last 30-odd years.

I reckon culture is a problem, it's a bad culture. I thought it was on the improve last year but whatever is happening this year - something is wrong down at Tigerland and we all know that. Something is very very wrong..........not good to see.

No I said what the club stated was the reasons, not necessarily my own. I want the type of ruck he is, hopefully he can come good.

Well we have to agree to disagree, because I think the money side is bollox.

I agree with this scenario too - although, i do think that next season he could be on a hiding to nothing & long term he could make it very hard for himself to ever be employed in AFL coaching again.

Never did bash the head as frankly it would hurt and I aint that dumb!! Agree on Newy and King.
Of course you're not dumb. You've always struck me as being a level headed intellectual
I'm just niggling you over the Hampson bitch we had

Oh it is definitely 100% culture - there is no question on that. I think to an extent that culture has definitely improved - but i think we are all finding out quick smart that the level of improvement is much much smaller than we all thought. In reality we have only really improved with our finances and business savvy - and our intelligent use of 1st round draft picks. In that area, we have definitely improved

Have a look at our second round draft picks over the last 8 years you'll vomit in your own mouth

Most disappointing things about this season:
1) On field performance
2) Staggering numbers of pea hearted nufties on this board who have turned feral after a few losses

Players on the rookie list, who are clearly back up only, play for the wage that they negotiate but full well know their lot in life. Very different scenario than the main listed player.
Big O isn't on the rookie list mate and never was going to be . Tell me how he didn't know he was going to be promoted . It was only a surprise to you by the looks of it. Once again , no point
