This is exactly the reason why need to recruit club champions and not club hacks.
Our culture needs to change and the players we are recruiting are not helping. Our club rewards other clubs hacks with long term overpaid contracts. From the beginning this sets the players minds that mediocracy is acceptable at RFC. It also doesnt help that our match committee and coaching staff keep rewarding their piss weak efforts with more matches.

Im all for recruiting for depth but the club has dealt with it wrong. We need to offer short term 1 year contracts to players who are being pushed out by premiership clubs. Only then will our players see how champions train, play and prepare themselves for match day.

Players we needed to look at last season

Pies
Didak (probably too much of a party goer)
Jolly (we would still have our second round pick although we would have needed to draft a young ruckmen)

Cats
Josh Hunt (surely he would offer more then Thomas)
Joel Corey
Paul Chapman ( We are now playing Morris upfront )

Swans
Jude Bolton ( More of VFL project really but may have played a hand full of games)

Now i know some will say YUK to most of those players and some of those players retired and probably didnt want to go around again but we as a club need to change our culture to a winning culture and only way in doing so is by bringing players from clubs with success. There will be more come this season and i really hope our club looks at these players i for one hope we go after O'keafe from the Swans if he is delisted.

Again it goes back to the coach.

Do we train under pressure - game day pressure simulation?
Does the coach apply pressure to his players?

The players get to the big stage under pressure and they can't hack it. No surprise really.

I just hate the Tiger BF reaction to players and coaches after a loss. Its like people who are mean and disrespectful to you're own family members, just not on.

Mate, i have sat here and watched this shit for 10 straight weeks and not posted one comment. To me its clear that this year is right up there with out absolute most shamble-ridden years - NOTHING has changed and people will call them out on it when they are acting so unprofessional and the performance makes it so painfuly obviously.

Things were meant to have changed mate - they asked paying members to dip their hands into their pockets TWICE and also contribute to the TFF so we could evolve past this crap - and when you do that, you have to expect people to hold you more accountable than ever when its obvious nothing at all has changed.

What have they done with that "War Chest" to try avoid these catastrophic meltdowns from happening again and again and again??? We have gone from top 5 to bottom 4 in 6 months - we all want to know why and wtf they are doing to turn that around

Failure will always attract harsh criticism and heavy review - no point crying about how reality plays out and acting like supporters are being unreasonable - that is just how the world works - be it in sports, life or business.

Lost me 2 weeks ago against Melb,The players that is.
Don't care anymore.
Feel sorry for Rance,Only player that looks like giving a shit about the side.
Rance? the way he coughed it up last night for the turnover/goal shows he i just as much to blame.

The club is struggling. I'm not trying to find a silver lining or anything, I just find it funny that as Richmond supporters who have lived through the last few decades, people are throwing a tantrum over a poor season!
Maybe cause we are sick of it?
Poor season after poor season. "Oh well, try again next year"

Unfortunately, we have to wait another year to play finals. But that's fine by you, right?

Not talking about skill level Baz.Yes Rance did have a Rance moment but unlike his more skilled team mates he actually gives a dam.

Our season went down the shitter moments after Vlastuin kicked that brilliant opening running goal against the Suns in rd 1.

We were 'good' and up to supporters season expectations for those glorious 2 first minutes in the season opener.

May aswell make a thread about it.

Mentioned this after the loss after the week we lost after Tommy's passing.

Here's a few recently losses when the match has been build up as a big one. Remember, in most of these matches, we've barely fired a shot:

Dreamtime, season on the line vs Essendon 2014
vs Melbourne after Tommy's passing 2014
vs Carlton Round 2 after elimination final loss 2014
vs Carlton Elimination Final 2013

And then a few more which have happened in the last 10 years:
Loss after Jack Dyers passing
Richmond centenary match vs Carlton
Ben Cousins first match vs Carlton
Richo farewell lap of honour match
Basically any Richo milestone match
Ben Cousins last match vs Port Adelaide

Feel free to add if I missed any.

Will Richmond ever be capable of something similar to Freo vs Sydney in the Prelim last year where their pressure is just so relentless thar the opposition is unable to win on a big occasion?

A few other games come to mind:

Cousins last game, against Port Adelaide and we lost that game too.

Where were our leaders in the first quarter when they needed to get their hands on the footy and exert some control?

No where. Oh sorry, Jackson did get the ball, decided yet again he was gifted with Maurice Rioli evasion skills and slipped over. A Jack Dyer medallist that one.

All for picking players based on their ability to stand up in big games, many other clubs set it as a high priority with great success.
In our case it is predominately the same offenders time after time as well.
You mean all of them? :p
