You want to play the man and not the ball? I cant wait till your friends are thrown off their perch in a couple of months and tossed out of the club. You can parade down the city with your rainbow and Palestinian flags together, holding hands and happy clapping your virtue all day long.

Your post screams emotional stability.

Suprised you didn't threaten to end his civilization.

If, after all the shit we've been thru, when we finally look like making proper improvements your ****wit political mates screw it up by causing admin instability at board level to satisfy their pissweak egos there are mineshafts up the back of my place they should spend the rest of their incredibly short lives in.

That sort of **** up removes people's right to breathe in some walks of life.

I like you mate but the people pushing this shit are more concerned about their own egos than what's best for North and they are showing the same ****en bullshit attitude that made fuel prices what they are now.

Head gear helps injuries to the skull, but for concussion it is the brain hitting the inside of your skull that causes the damage, I don't think there will ever be any kind of head gear that can help with concussion... unless we get to some sort of sci-fi anti gravity/inertia type of thing.

The problem with promoting head gear to help with concussion players might get the false sense of protection.

Lol a football club compared to geo politics? Come on. The club has till round 10.

I cant agree. I do not like what the club and administration has become or what they are pushing. Mazda has pulled a huge amount of money from their sponsorship, membership is sub 50,000. The club needs IIRC 45k members to break even and receive full AFL funding. Which is a tick buy its not great.

Its not rosy, not by a long shot. There is a reason why and after being promised the members would have access to the findings in the Walsh report. So where are they?

Its the board and administration. Not the Footy department.

I think it's inevitable that helmets will be mandatory.

If not, then there will be significant changes to the rules because head trauma litigation will be even more significant and expensive than it is now. That horse has well and truly bolted.

It's not so much about eliminating the risk - it's about reducing the risk of more serious brain injuries.

Hopefully, helmet design improves sooner than later.

Am I alone when I dont really give a shit if a player gets concussions whilst being paid exceptional money?

What about us who were paid to play in lower leagues and have no ability to make claims? Theres millions of blokes who have had significant head knocks playing the game… Good enough for us, its good enough for them. I was paid my rent when I played footy. These campaigners are paid in houses.

Cry me a river. Dont want to earn 300k+ a year? Do something else. Dont play. I think the answer is liability waivers something like an assumption of risk agreement?

Or the pin is pulled on careers a lot earlier at the sign of concussions? Clubs to have pathways for further employment whether its stacking shelves, further education or trades..

Sure, you get hurt? Well heres an apprenticeship, we sever the contract and on your way son. You’re not medically fit to play?

One more thing. I want the game to start rolling back the over reach to mitigate concussions. Im not asking for king hits and the big blind side hip and shoulders to come back, the over umpiring of perfect tackles, suspensions for accidental knocks. Wind some of this right back too.

If they continue to shift the game then it needs to be called something else because its certainly not football any longer.

The ‘OHSiffication’ of the sport at the elite level due to litigation is ridiculous.

You bought the ticket. You knew what you were getting in to.

Helmets do nothing to reduce concussion.

Imagine if boxing faces the same OHS problem they’re trying to force on this game.

The boxing industry is lucky. By the time boxers are 50 they can't remember they were boxers.

Doesn’t a helmet make it worse as it gives a false sense of security and players become more careless around protecting their own head?

I mean this conversation has been flogged to death on here.

The only solution that I can see is assumption of risk agreements and clubs to find a job/career/study once a players contract has been terminated.

Studies have shown helmets do not do anything when it comes to concussion and we have relatively low rates of fractures for the head region. If helmets did anything I am sure they would be used.

Boxing still exists and that sport is just jacking up on roids and punching each other in the face. I think all players accept the risks when they choose to play footy. That being said, we probably would need to allocate more resources towards helping those that become victims.

There is always going to be risk, basketball has the second highest rates of concussion for youth sports and that is allegedly a non-contact sport.

We are already changing rules so the risk of concussions decline, I think all players are aware of the risks, the vast majority of past players who have CTE come from an era where king hits occurred. There are only a handful of modern day players with CTE that i am aware of, players like Brayshaw that went head first contest after contest and he suffered numerous concussions. It is something we are training Wardlaw not to do, to go side in with the hip and protect his head. I was much happier how he played against Carlton than how he did the last couple of years.

I think we will develop a medical remedy eventually, there is a lot of research going on with stem cells to repair damage in various parts of the body. Until that day happens we just need to take as many reasonable precautions as possible. Players don't want the specky and the physicality out of the game.

CTE can manifest years or even decades after the trauma, so we wont really know how well current concussion protocols impact CTE. I think wearing helmets can do more harm than good, you can get a false sense of protection when you have the helmet on, some might play more reckless thinking the helmet will protect them.

I watched that ego fest dressed up as a footy show on Ch Nine for the first time this season, keen to see the reaction to Trembath's mark of the year. Reviewed the game and all we got was Barrett's negativity about us failing to beat a good side yet again. Trembath's mark not shown or even mentioned. I won't make that mistake on a Sunday morning again this year.

Not sure I’ve watched it in the last 8 years beyond on my Barbers TV when I go for a haircut
