What he said.... but also you need another forward target.
I think Port are too Tredrea-centric; which is fine when he's there but Im sure he was in our forward 50 last night when you guys had the wind. Buggered if I could work that one out?
Because they took White off (good wotk by Massie though). Should keep the not 100% fit Tredders @ FF, with White playing CHF. With Motlop / resting Lade as a 3rd tall option.

Far far too good. One thing that has really impressed me is the physical development of your players since Craig took over. I suspect it's an aspect he emphasises because it was a similar look when Blight was coach and Craig was in charge of fitness. One of the reasons we have young players languishing in the SANFL is they just don't have the physical development to withstand the rigours of AFL and play with confidence - the crows are way ahead of us in that regard. And coming from a Port supporter, you can believe that is tough to concede ... :o

Chin up FF, your young lads in the SANFL are the same stage some of the our kids who were on show last night were at not too long ago. Both clubs have list management problems (still) but at least you guys recently bagged a premiership. It's sad we're the only non-victorian club bar the Dockers who haven't gotten a Grand Final berth during the collective purple patch they've all been having for x amount of years. Fitness and discipline are two things the Power need to relearn and they'll quickly do that, the coaching tactics are always the first thing people blame.

Our guys have definitely got a lot strong since Craig took over as head coach. Somehow we have also become a lot fitter, I'd say the fittest side in the competition.

I'd expect there's a bit of international sporting fitness input thru NC's connections. The aerobic/anaerobic mix appears just right as it did thru the business ends of 97-98 - now you're better thru the whole season as well. At Port there appears to have been way too much emphasis on aerobic training.

You are right but we had to get much fitter both aerobically and anaerobically if we were ever going to play the game style that we play now.

I'd like to add my congratulations. Your boys were far far too good for us tonight. At time, it was even reminiscent of PAFC (of the magpie variety) performances, though you might not want to admit that.

I never thought the table would turn, but it certainly has. Hopefully we can give you a spirited contest in 2-3 years.

Just as the tables will turn again down the track, its the way of life in the AFL. Every coach is magically searching for a way to break the cycle, but it just doesnt seem possible. No team can continually dominate in the AFL, the recruiting system prevents this from happening.

The thing that many people failed to realise about Port's showdown wins was that at the time Port had a far better side than us and Gary Ayres played a very predictable gameplan that played straight into Port's hands. I really fail to fathom the theory that Port were winning the showdowns because they were port and that Port would just magically win a majority of the games against Adelaide. Now that we have a better side and are better coached the results speak for themselves and clearly blow that rediculous theory out of the water.

The wheel will turn again down the track for you guys, just as it has done for us.

The only team for whom the wheel doesn't seem to turn is Fremantle. I pity their fans. Doomed to mediocrity.

Agreed, but they seem content with their 1 finals appearance in 12 years.

Didnt the President Rick Hart say last year they had a successful season ? Yeah finishing in the bottom eight for 11 years is pretty successful !!!!

No wonder the players have a history of going missing when things get tough, they know they will still get a pat on the back from everyone even though they are underachieving.

Even if we're not actually the fittest side in the competition (and it's a hard thing to compare), other sides seem to believe that we ARE the fittest, thanks to Craig and his mysterious sport science secrets. Psychologically, that's a huge advantage.

If our boys believe that they are the fittest, it's an even bigger mental edge.

and Richmond. And dare I say, St Kilda. One of the best lists they are likely to have in their history, and who do they have coaching them, Grant Thomas. I actually hold him partly reposinble for Kositschkes injury problems. It seems strange that Thomas doesn't rate ruckman and their influence on a game, yet he wastes Kosi ( one of their 2 best match winning kpps ) in the ruck. Kosie would be a walk up start in the forward line in any other team in the competition, the guys a match winner. You don't waste a champion kpp in the ruck.
I bet he would give up his scientologoy classes if he could get Noble back.
