you cannot have harvey above buckley.

people hate buckley because hes so good, you will find that no opposition supporters dislike harvey because they dont fear him. whereas a Voss, Hird, Buckley can kick that matchwinning goal or grab the game by the scruff of the neck....dont take me wrong im not taking anything away from harvey, hes one of the best of recent times but he has never been a great kick and saint supporters would agree that he would almost be the last player you would want lining up to kick a goal.

people hate buckley because he plays for collingwood.

simple.

Hope he gets carried off on Friday night (on a stretcher in the opening minutes) and dont get me started on dual Brownlow medalist, Grant was robbed. The only thing this bloke was good for was being an omen to a crows premiership, the sooner he retires, the sooner we dont have to worry about the cows winning another flag :p

In all seriousness though, one of the greatest players to ever play the game, as for the debate before, I rate him in the same league as Buckley, at the very pinnacle of the sport in our modern age. If not for the fact they were playing my side this weekend i would hope for the very best for him. Good luck in the future ole' chap weather that be on or off the footy field :)

Looking at both their careers overall AND this year's performances, Harvey is the better player.

Ratten and McKay were so good, but no one hated them. Do you know why? Because like Harvey, they were humble and not arrogant. I doubt we'd see these three players carrying on like Buckley did after winning the Norm Smith.

Exactly right

Fair to say if you were a Saints supporter and could afford to do it, outside of the prospect of getting to a grand final and the relative likelihood that the G-Train will reach the ton in the game, the chance to honour Harvey in his 300th game would be a great reason to go.

I'd love to get over there to see him this weekend, but don't have the dosh. What a brilliant player.

During one game in 1989 or 1990 at Moorabbin I said to my dad, "He's going to win a Brownlow one day!". Wasn't wrong. :)

"Well at least Harvs never let us down...." many times the only thing to console Saints fans after another loss in those darker days......

Harvey = Champion

spot on Templar - many times the only reason in the dark days to go and watch was Robert Harvey's magic.....legend.
