what are you going to do in the face of all this...?
get angry? pity the organisation that feels it has to play these games to be relevant?
one premiership in a decade+, does it even really work? I'm almost positive the Cats would have won at least that and more without all this.

. I like that film too, lol!Yeah it’s this job that he’s just got, and the other one that he got after last season ended, that have cost us premierships in seasons before any of those announcements took place.
Those announcements morphed into humans, went back in time in a Delorean and scuppered our hopes and dreams in several seasons across the journey by switching magnets around on the board before big finals, whispering incorrect gameplans into players’ ears while they slept, and putting shorter studs in their boots before games played in slippery conditions. That’s what it was.
Good from you.
‘Is it worth it.’

Perhaps. He does have an MBA though so at least he has learned a bit about how businesses run, and large organisations as one of the most important leaders of a football club in the fifth biggest domestic league on the face of the planet in terms of spectatorship per match, so there’s that.

But the farms and the audits and the Geelong-centric company jobs/ambassador roles etc. have been creating a smell around Geelong FC for a long time now.
The AFL's 'audit that is not an audit' last month can only be viewed as a warning shot that it's time to clear that smog.
And I wonder if Gerard Whateley's extraordinary outburst last night on AFL360, literally telling Dillon and Kane that they are on borrowed time re. relatively minor umpiring and disciplinary issues, was a return volley.
Don't forget the WAGs with their 6 figure Cotton On dealsWonder how many Geelong players are also "directors"or ambassadors?
Was he appointed because he held the best credentials?
Or because he is the head coach of Geelong and they are rorting the soft cap?
Be interesting what BS role he holds and what actual benefits he brings to running a 5G tec company.
The AFL can't even run an investigation of themselves

I once missed out on a local government media role because I didn’t make up a quote from the local mayor when I was asked to write a press release shortly after the interview. I was literally told that was the reason I didn’t get the job: that I didn’t invent a quote. When does any job HAVE to always go to the person with the best on paper credentials.
What YOU view as the best credentials aren’t viewed as the best credentials by others.
Once more, he’s led the most consistently successful team of the last 15 seasons in a national competition leadership role and he’s a university qualified individual so obviously they view those things as important for whatever role he’s been given. Who cares.
Cool.
What is his role again at this 5G tech company?
And would they have bothered if they weren't sponsors of Geelong?
That's the test on if it's a rort.
I didn’t hire him mate so I don’t know.
Didn’t you guys axe a premiership coach last year and replace him with an untried replacement to dig the club out of the biggest hole it’s ever been in? What are his credentials?
Baaaa haha haaaa.
Seriously?
Minni had no credentials to apply and win a head coaching position?
What an incredibly dumb thing to suggest.
You keep trying buddy.
Only one man can save us and the entire AFL industry from DILL and Kane's ineptitude. And I wonder if Gerard Whateley's extraordinary outburst last night on AFL360, literally telling Dillon and Kane that they are on borrowed time re. relatively minor umpiring and disciplinary issues, was a return volley.
Was he the best credentialed person for the job? That was your initial query about Scott. As though every position in every workplace is filled by the best credentialed person by some unseen set of objective criteria that applies uniformly.
A coach was in that position and was asked to leave it despite having won a flag previously and was replaced by someone with no senior experience aside from a brief fill-in tenure, no senior flags. They decided that he was who they wanted: maybe King was better credentialed. Maybe Skipworth or whoever else applied was. You or I don’t really know, do we.
Just stop.
Comparing the appointment of the current Eagles coach to Scott's cushy appointment as a Director....... chalk and cheese.
You do realise that Simpson was initally appointed with less experience and credentials than Minni.
No? Not surprised.
Eagles conducted a professional recruitment process and interviewed several short listed candidates. The media were all over the entire recruitment process and analysing applicants blow by vlow etc.
Scott was appointed after what formal process exactly? A call made behind closed doors for "commercial" reasons unknown.
If it looks like bullshit. Smells like bullshit. Sounds like bullshit.
Guess what. Good chance...........it's bullshit.
Where did I say he wasn’t? I have looked. Can’t find it anywhere.
You brought up the idea of this absolute necessity to be appointed to a position with ‘the best credentials’ and salivating over why a guy can be given a job, probably a very minor role regardless of how official it might sound and it’s been stated he’s not an executive etc.
So stand by it. Shouldn’t that approach be uniform? Who gets to determine it? It’s their company. Don’t they get to make that determination?
If they see someone with a university qualification, who’s studied at multiple schools, who has a history of professional success over 3 decades in his chosen field, aren’t they…. Well, best placed to make that determination - as opposed to, say, a shitkicker on a forum in, well, you?
I like that film too, lol!

Do you know what a non executive director does? They don’t run the company. He may have been brought in because of his undenied ability to extract the most from a teamWas he appointed because he held the best credentials?

Perhaps the afl should force coaches and players to disclose any other employment and afl should demand the employment contract between player/coach and business. Then compare that contract to what they actually do to see if its legitimateDo you know what a non executive director does? They don’t run the company.
