I would like to congratulate West Coast on rookie listing Ben Sharp to the Eagles.

I have known Ben for a very long time and have played with him for a very long time. He was the best & hardest working player at Oakliegh by the length of the flemington straight and is the best ball finder I have ever seen. Over 30+ possies a game and All -Australian are very good honours. He also holds the 1.6km record at Oakliegh, and was in the top 3 fastest at the club. Sharpy is an "Outside" player, but he was the best at it in the whole TAC cup.

Ben will excel on the WACA as time goes on, and I can't wait to see many red faces on this internet site, when Ben becomes one of the leagues top quality midfielders.
Also with Neil Ross at the your club will streamline his development two-fold, he will have to improve his body size and also he'll have to find a yard or two in the next 2-3 years, which I know he will do.

Once again great get Eagles.

Cheers

Great to hear you think of him so highly, hopefully he comes on well.

But it has been a while since we played on the WACA mate ;)

I would agree with that. He was probably drafted to the best place for him, Subiaco will really suit his style of play.

Very happy to have drafted him at west coast, agree his work ethic is very encouraging. Subiaco Oval will suit him to a tee.

yeh, the wide expanses of subi will suit him to the ground. u dont really need extreme pace at subi, just endurance and an ability to link and provide run. sharp gives us that. sounds very similar to rosa? i havent seen much of them tho.

Just wondering, if he is so good, why wasn't he picked up in the national draft?

Two words

Chad Fletcher

Two more words

Dean Cox

Few more words:

Sometimes recruiters get it wrong and quality players miss out on being drafted. Lets hope that this is another example of this.

Cheers

I'm not saying he's ******** because he missed out in the national draft, i'm just assuming there would be some concerns about him... If there are, hopefully time will absolve them. :)

Did he ever play rugby?

At least he should get along with Robbie Wiley and Dennis Cometti.

As long as he can play like Robert Wiley rather than Dennis Cometti then I will be happy.

from all accounts Cometti was one of these "could have been anything" players if it wasnt for injury... I remember someone who played with him at Footscray saying he wasnt a bad player.

Very outside player, don't expect to see him anywhere near a pack!

I honestly think that overall he is totally ********, but a lot of people reckon he should of gone late in the draft.

Not a bad pickup for a rookie.

yep, its pretty well documented that he is outside. thankfully, subi is the best ground to get away with that in the AFL. his aerobic capacity means he could be potentially damaging.

Sharp is a great addition to the eagles and i too was surprised he didnt get picked up during the national draft me and few mates who have played with/against and watched him play had him penned down for him to be taken anywhere from 30-45.

Awesome midfielder who, along with morton, butler, and waters, will generate the next wave of top line eagle midfielders in 3 or 4 years. Should be a great player to watch, only concern is his lack of strength.
