Don't know if anyone else saw this but Ratt's and the club have sent letters to both Harry O'Brien & Dale Thomas (and i assume Dane Swan and others) congratulating them on reaching 100 games.

"Huge thanks 2 Brett Ratten & Carlton FC who sent me a lovely letter for my 100th game. Blessings!" - Harry O'Brien via Twitter

"thanks 2 every 1 for the msg's re;100 games - thanks 2 Carlton fc for a letter also" - Dale Thomas via Twitter

I for one think it's great and shows a lot of class.

Well done. ;)

Although I think it seems a nice gesture, you then get into the situation of needing to send it to every player, and then eventually other teams will follow suit, and players are suddenly getting 15 meaningless letters every milestone.

This sort of thing should be restricted to players we have ties to, such as JK. That would be a nice sentiment, and actually possess some meaning to the gesture.

Why the **** are we sending nice letters like that?

Ratts can send them on his own accord if he wants, but i don't want the club praising another club or its' players.

Yuck.... I hate this. I hate this so much.... It better be tactics for when we play them in finals?

TG has already posted it in another thread.

I wonder if Malthouse will send one to Marc Murphy on his 100th.

Shouldn't change the fact that we should do what we believe to be right.
The only thing is if this is now protocol, it has to be just that for any player of every team that reaches a milestone.

Nothing wrong with showing a bit of class. I think in many cases (not all) the intense rivalry, and open dislike is really confined to supporter level. Seems to be a bit more of a community at the top level, at least amongst the Melbourne clubs...not a bad thing.

We should send Harry a congratulations letter for being held at gunpoint.

I wonder how many times they will bring that up in 7's telecast tonight

I'm not worried about this. We have gathered a reputation for arrogance, tanking, cheating, pay offs etc etc. This is not a great image for attracting non-generational support. PR exercises like this just gives us a touch of class back, maybe softens the will for players or other clubs to hunt us when we play them. It may be a bit of brand marketing or reverse psychology. Either way, I can't see how it hurts us.

When's Harry's contract up? Might be a ploy to land him at Visy Park to then release Gibbs back into the guts.

Why we would send Daisy a letter is beyond me, maybe for some cheap lulz and not seem favourable to Harry.

But I have no quarms (spelling) in regards to sending letters.
