Does anyone know the contested possessions record in a single game?

While I'm at it, is there any way to hunt down other similar statistics without a Champion Data Subscription?

Jude Bolton had 26 against Essendon last year, which was reported at the time as being the record. Don't think anyone's had more since then.

Great, thanks for the reply. Looks like Andrew Swallow's 27 contested possies (28 if you believe The Age) from yesterday's game is a new benchmark.

Also 28 if you go by this website - doesn't go back further than 2000 & think you can only look at it week by week - but record or not thats a pretty impressive stat for Swallow

fwiw Judd had broken the hard ball get record against sydney this year with 18 and his 25 contested was not a record.

Looks like Priddis had 30 Contested possies against Sydney this year.

Given that it was mentioned Bolton's 26 was a record last year, I'll assume Priddis has it.

You are using two different stat companies who always end up with different figures.
Jude Bolton had the record of 26 which was from the official Champion stats.
Swallow got 27 (official) yesterday which would break that record.

OK, Interesting. I won't open that can of works to question which is more accurate. I guess we should go by the "Official" Champion Data stats, which suits my NM bias just fine

I wouldn't be relying on these stats. Within two seconds I noticed that Collingwood's percentage was wrong. No doubt many more errors if they can't get this right.

Hmm, I trust Champion highly but know very little about Pro-Stats.

Given Champion can give Priddis 18 CP's while Pro-Stats gives him 30 CP's from the same game, I've gotta question the quality control there at Pro-Stats.

how can he have 25 contested possessions but only 18 hard ball gets? how can a contested possession not be a hard ball get, unless they are rating the contest against some players as easy?

lol not all contested possessions are hardball gets. contested possessions include looseball gets as well. uncontested is if you receive an uncontested handball or take an uncontested mark.

I've also found that site to be pretty inaccurate with even some of the most basic things, so stopped using it a while ago.

It was a few years ago, '06-'07??? but I remember Jason Johnson racked up a massive amount of contested possies against the saints in the driving rain. Over 30 contested out of 39, dunno about a record, but it would have to be up there.
