Just half heard as it was 10 and dont have a lot of time for either Aiston or Shutts but they said

Rutten has agreed to new contract just the paper work to be done
Danger aint going nowhere
MacKay has already committed

Bock,Thomo and Knights have put talks on hold till seasons end

But like i said only half listening as it was 10 and Aiston and Shuts who like to bag us in a smug way when they can.Love the way Aiston rolls his eyes and sways "and now some good news for Adelaide" dont know how to take him

Mark Aiston is one of the strangest cats in the media, has a phenomenal ability to look like a moron, looks like he's pissed most of the time.

On the contract news it fits in with most of the rumours going about.

Wouldn't be shocked if any 1 of the other 3 ended up at the Gold Coast

Ofcourse I don't want to lose any of them., however if that was true, that would be the best of a bad scenario in my opinion.

Losing Knights or Thommo would be devastating.

I agree. We have plenty of players who can come in and do the job. Davis has already done a very good job playing in a similar role with Stevens playing the 3rd tall. We have Talia, L.Thompson and Young who have all played substantial minutes in defence as well.

That's at odds with what Rowey said on 5AA the other night, that Knights and the AFC have it all sewn up. Perhaps he's simply told them his intention is to stay but no negotiations until the end of the year?

5aa and the Adelaide Crows is like drinking beer and eating chocolate it don't mix However 10 said talks ate on hold till years end

Would not be the worst thing to lose Bock if they can get something decent in exchange. Like others have mentioned, the Crows have an abundance of talented young talls who could make CHB their own.

Agreed Davis to CHB Otten to HBF

Bock can't string more than 3 games together now Trent Hentschell the 2nd

Rowey's thing was a bit of an off the record "who's staying, who's going" conversation with Fitzy, and he'd know these things in fairness. Speaks to a shitload of people at the club. Maybe contract talks are on hold, but from the sounds of it we won't lose him.

He's interesting cause looks like he is going to miss a lot of Footy but I rate him he's a goal kicker but will be out of the game for a fair while

If Bock is off to GC as most seem to believe, does anyone have an idea of what sort of compensation we will get for him? Is there a panel that determines what he is worth? I would do the research however with new bub home, it is a struggle just to write this :).

Wonder what an AA CHB and 2008 AFC Champion is worth?

Correction, he was an AA CHB, he is no longer an AA CHB, AA selection lasts for as long as the season you were selected. For instance, Rutten is not an AA FB.

I'm also interested in this. I can't remember where but I read an article re: Gary Ablett to GC and Geelong being compensated with two 1st round draft picks that they have to use within the next 5 drafts. You would think Bock would at least be worth one 1st round draft pick...

Gold Coast have selections 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 in round one and the first in every round after. For Bock, maybe pick 13 or 15 + second or third round draft pick, or is that asking too much? :p

Compensation picks are handed out by the AFL and can be used over the next 5 years. They don't come from Gold Coast's draft concession picks, unless they choose to trade for him rather than selecting him as one of their uncontracted players.

They also have pick #1 in addition to the selections you listed.

Yes and No.

Ben Rutten is certainly not the AA fullback but he most certainly is an AA fullback.

Its the same way in that Andrew Mcleod is a Norm Smith Medallist but not the Norm Smith Medallist

Oh ok. Cheers Vader. So would Geelong possibly get concession picks in addition to draft picks from GC for Gary? I dare say the AFL hands out concession for the rarest of situations, so AFC wouldn't be compensated in the same way for Bock?

Geelong would receive 2x 1st round selections for Ablett, both coming from the AFL. They receive nothing directly from GC, nothing, nada, zip, nix, nil, zilch, diddly squat, not a damn thing.

Adelaide would receive compensation in exactly the same manner as Geelong, but we get less - due to the fact that we're losing a lesser player. They've come up with a formula which determines whether a club should receive tier 1 compensation through to tier 5. Ablett would be worth tier 1 (2x 1st round selections). Bock would possibly be worth tier 2 (1x 1st round selection) or tier 3, depending on how much his injury problems in 2009 & 2010 have hurt his value.

Oh... how generous of GC. So if Bock were to leave, the AFC will just have to bend over and take it like a man for the greater good of the AFL?

He seems like a weirdo.

When they come out of a news break for the sport he always behaves as though something hilarious has just happened off camera and they have only just managed to get things together in the nick of time.

He's either an absolute tool or George Donikian is one of the funniest men alive.

If Bock leaves we will probably get a 1st rounder as compensation, directly from the AFL. We are allowed to use that selection anytime in the next 5 years, though we must nominate our intention to use it at the start of the year (without knowing our draft position which isn't known until the end of the season).

For Bock, under the current injury circumstances, I would be happy with that.
