Given his age and experience we shouldn't be spending much at all. But then again Matt Clarke may have other ideas.

Just thought I’d check his highlights out against us. Twicebu where out narked shanahan and once Liam Ryan in contested situations
hmmm, but where does he fall on the cole - starc scale. or should i not contaminate this thread?

I have to admit Duursma worries me as a top pick, I just get Morton Vibes, hopefully I’m wrong and he’s like ends up being similar to the best of the Selwood boys.
Anyway what picks we take to the draft and who we actually choose is far from set in stone.
Unlike DS I’ll be very happy if Starcevich ends up in a WC jumper next year.
I still have vivid memories of the massive 3 inch hard on he had for Sheldrick, he does get excited about things come draft period sometimes.
Don't we all ?

Fair effort.

You know, about this young man, you've gotta ask yourself a question, how many other boys would have played through this pain, and then for good measure in a grand final kick four goals? The answer, not many. His potential has recruiters licking their lips on his ceiling, he's going first round and there will be lots of clubs keeping a close watch on this youngster.

ABC sports talk Jarrad Schofield is on the panel today. He said the plan was for Elliott Yeo to play half back next year for durability reasons. I wonder if this means the club is confident of getting a senior midfield via trade or if the plan is for starcivich to play mid.
He also said Hough will play back.
That makes the decision to give him 3 years look even dumber in hindsight. 3 years for an injury plagued midfielder over 30 who can't play in the midfield anymore because his body can't handle the stresses of it.

If we got Starcevich would we be looking to try Ginbey back in the midfield as the defensive midfield bull? I know we have tried briefly and it failed and then his move back has been great for him and us as a team but if we have starcevich as lock down defender (maybe not playing quite as tall as ginbey) then maybe they are wanting to revisit ginbey to the mids again. Surely it's too early in ginbeys career to say that he will now forever more be just a backman? Think maybe yeo being out all year effected this too as he seemed to have that 50/50 kinda split happening with yeo and midfield/backline in his first year?
Just a backman? Like mckenna was just a backman?
I think he's found his niche, he's bloody good down back

It’s the new lineup

HB : Yeo, Baker, Duggan, Starcevich, Cole, McCarthy, Hough, Ginbey, Maric, Dewar, Grego, Allan
C: Reid

If we were able to bring in Starcevich & Robertson (AFL Compo), Butler (Saints F2) and Young (Hawks F3) that would plug a lot of gaps and improve every line and largely all in the right age bracket. Blight could be a SSP.

Bring in three young guns (Duursma, Sharp, best available @ Hawks pick) via the draft plus the NGAs & Banfield. Then all we need to focus on is Ruck.

Do you have us swapping a contracted ryan for saints F2 then trading it for butler ?

We should not be trading contracted players for future picks

I would be much happier trading chesser for butler then going hard for better value from ryan

We still need to bolster the midfield more. Robertson and Sharp aren’t going to give us much of a boost next year. Steele, Neale, Simpkin, Petracca, Davies, Flanders etc. There’s plenty of experienced mids that may be moveable, just a matter of whether they will come to us for the right money and contract length. Or maybe another fringe guy like Dev eg. Hustwaite

It’s a good idea and should have been done earlier.

GETTABLE:
Blues compo pick for DK definitely on the table, probably end up at picking 10 or 11,they could be chasing points for it.
Dursma and the not Sharp guy (CDT?) to WC.
Some shenanigans going on between WC and Brissy for Starcevich, he hasn't re-signed yet so prolly going to WC.
Doubtful Butler leaves Hawks, they currently have 2 yrs on the table, WC sniffing hard though.
probably already been posted but bored so did it anyway!
