No, Chesser will be a pick in the 30’s or 40’s unfortunately.Could we involve Chess in a pick upgrade for 11 rather than getting 34?
With the likely NGA pre-listing we’re going to have a lot of picks with minimal spots.
Chess and 19 -> 11
Everything else to GC for 7
2 and 11 for 5 and 6
Leaves us with 1,5,6,7 which is the perfect spot to have picks.

We are in a serious death spiral/bind/catch 22.Club had the right intentions, but attracting players to a team that has lost 80 of the last 91 matches is tough
In a rebuild I would have thought the improvement comes mostly from the youngsters you have on the list which we have many of now.We are getting worse not better and we won 1 game last year……..
Allen played only 12 matches and played poorly in a lot of them, Chesser played 4 senior matches, and while Ryan played 20 matches I wouldn't say he was particularly close to his previous best. Plus one would hope for natural improvement given that we had just about one of the youngest and most inexperienced sides in the comp.We are getting worse not better and we won 1 game last year……..
I don't think anyone would argue he's an amazing player but he's at least a mature body who can play inside midfield, so either he proves he's good enough to play at the senior level and contributes there, or he doesn't cut it but at least he takes some of the burden off the teenagers who are regularly getting crushed in the mids for the Beagles.VFL has turned into a bit of a mickey mouse league stats wise with the AFL players racking up touches at will when the go down.

Even in clearances he's not rated that high

Has anyone got an explanation from the club why we've never converted a Category B rookie? We have all the wealth and one place where you can spend it is Category B. We should be trying an Irishmen & a basketballer every year
They have valued Ryan at F2 or F3 in previous weeks.Watched that Gettable episode in full which is the first time I’ve bothered to do so this year. Quite a bit to takeaway from it - not much to get overly enthusiastic about from a WCE perspective but there were some little nuggets of hope
Some of these have been touched on already but my takeaways:
• Chesser likely to attract pick 34 or 44 from Carlton - noting also that the Blues are also chasing Khamis from the Bulldogs who Twomey said is in that same range. We’d be wise to request/accept 34 early and move on before it goes to the Bulldogs.
• Butler more likely to stay than go which is understandable. Might be worth throwing a 3 year deal at him rather than the 2 years he’s been offered by Hawthorn and at more $$ than they’re willing to/able to match (within reason - just because we have cap space we shouldn’t be paying players more than their worth)
• Ah Chee almost a lock to request a trade to Adelaide so put a line through him.
• Starcevich looks a good chance to join us even if Twomey is struggling to get his head around the trade over FA part of his acquisition- and that Brisbane get nothing for him if he leaves as a FA to any club
• Ryan definitely going to St Kilda but no mention of a trade value or an acknowledgment that he’s contracted so we need to be happy with what’s offered
• Our request for as many as four additional rookie spots looks set to be granted and, importantly, with the ability to prelist our NGA players. That would be a significant win
• Also mentioned that we might get a priority pick which we can trade - Twomey bizarrely links that to the Starcevich deal so Brisbane get something which seems unnecessary/unrelated. An extra pick(s) would be handy especially if it’s end of R1 or a R2 tied to our finishing position this year and/or next
• Still no clarity on what, if any, changes will be made to the bidding system for next year although placing a higher premium on early bids (top 5) seems more likely than the R1 lockout initially suggested. In true AFL fashion though, that decision might not be made until after the trade period meaning clubs will be trading future picks without knowing what the rules will be for bid matching in 2026.
Langford is definitely not a miss. Calling it now.Well Sid Draper did nothing this year.
Langford was solid this year but way too early to make a call if he was a miss.
Can't really make a call on Hawks F1 Until we see who we get with it or what we use it on. What if that player ends up being as good as Langford or Draper?
Reinforces what a lot have been saying here for a while now.New ESPN power rankings out. Sharp #2 of the open pool, Robey at 8 overall.

AFL Draft: The biggest draft bolter in a decade emerges
Over the past decade we've seen stars such as Clayton Oliver soar into the top echelon late. Those bolters pale in comparison to the wicked rise Sullivan Robey has produced across the Talent League finals. Here's Jasper Chellappah's top 40 for September.www.espn.com.au
But none of our players have been racking them up when going down to WAFL level.VFL has turned into a bit of a mickey mouse league stats wise with the AFL players racking up touches at will when the go down.

I would assume that GC would want a future 1st for flanders . They have more than enough picks this year alreadyLooking at that breakdown the Eagles, Saints and Suns could do a deal.
Assuming Allen and Draper first round compensation
WC give: 17 and Ryan
WC receive: pick 9
Saints give: pick 9
Saints receive: Flanders and Ryan
Suns give: Flanders
Suns receive: pick 17
Values Ryan at mid-2nd round pick.
Gives Eagles another top 10 pick for a Schubert, Robey, Grilj etc
Saints get two of their trade targets
Suns get another 879 points towards bids for Uwland and Patterson
Best 23 -28 players ? but has only played 6 games in 2 year with Brisbane having significant injuries last year tooI think people are undervaluing Dev a bit. He’s in Brisbanes best 23-28 players (ignoring injuries).
Do we really believe he wouldn’t be in our best 23?
But none of our players have been racking them up when going down to WAFL level.
A significant number of players above him played between one and five games, obviously putting in a good performance, but different from averaging highly across 15. He also had a number of games where he cracked 30 and 35 possessions. I don't follow the VFL so I don't know the reasons behind some of the lesser performances, but he's clearly a WAFL quality player at a minimum, will come for free, so seems like a no-brainer. He would command a spot in round 1 and if it turns out he's already hit his ceiling, he'll be overtaken.
We could offer butler 2.5million over 4 years with front loaded 800k year 1 and 700k year 2 .Watched that Gettable episode in full which is the first time I’ve bothered to do so this year. • Either way we’ll know Monday/Tuesday next week when the assistance package is ratified by the AFL commission

• There’s talk of clubs in the bottom 4-6 being given additional salary cap space to chase free agents - could be handy for us chasing Chad Warner in 2027 given the probability we’ll still be in that part of the ladder even if we do improve in 2026/27
• Carlton are likely going to put their TDK compensation pick up for trade. Will be pick 10/11 depending on Draper compo for Essendon and might be more achievable as a trade up option than the Port pick held by Gold Coast
• Draper FA compensation is line ball between Band 1 and 2. Silvagni will be band 2
• And big surprise, Robertson a good chance to land at West Coast
I am uneasy, But Brisbain have a midfield of top 1-3 picks, plus an ex Dogs B&F winner.I think people are undervaluing Dev a bit. He’s in Brisbanes best 23-28 players (ignoring injuries).

30+, which he did six times this year and seven times last year. What would you consider 'racking them up' though?
Dewar averaged 25.5
Hall 29.5
Gross only 22.3 - but final 3 games 29, 30 and 24 (2g).
Yeah I’d say he fits in around the 28 mark of their team (probably dependent on who is ranking and how the players are getting ranked). Definitely fits into our best 23 given the difference of skill floor between Brisbane and West Coast.Best 23 -28 players ? but has only played 6 games in 2 year with Brisbane having significant injuries last year too
Sorta adds to my point. We don’t have anything close to that. Dev would definitely contribute for the next couple years which is a good thing for a player who is free to pick up.I am uneasy, But Brisbain have a midfield of top 1-3 picks, plus an ex Dogs B&F winner.
