Because Pick 1 is 3000 points
Pick 3 is 2178 points

'm not strong at maths, but that's a lot bigger difference than 43, the threat of bids should be a real threat.....
I have said in earlier posts that we should posture that we are prepared to do this.

Whether we will or we will not is a whole other matter. Maths or not.

Port traded Polec and Pittard to North for essentially pick 11, although there was some later picks changing hands.

Going back a long way, we traded Scott Watters and Tony Begovich to Sydney for pick 1 (Banfield). I don’t think we’d get away with that again.

Going back not quite as far, we traded pick 21 for Michael Collica and Richard Taylor.
So its very very uncommon

From another board:

“Petracca is going to go to the Suns for pick 6 + futures, then Dees will use pick 6 + F1 for pick 2 and draft Robey.”

Don’t mind it at all.

I'm probably in the minority here but i don't like that deal.

I'd prefer to move up in the draft with the later picks we have. Let's get on the horn to GC and tell them we are keen on pick 6.

Then reach out to Uwland and Pattersons manager directly after telling them we cannot wait to interview them at the combine as they seem like very talented young men.

The message will be heard loud and clear.

Good, one less opportunity for us to overpay.

Slightly annoying. I think he would have been a savvy get based on the fact mid year he was a previously good draft prospect struggling to get a game and was going to cost little. He ultimately got into the side and played well - so he was going to cost more and always going to stay. We can't take a trick at the moment.

Clubs having a crack, its a hard friggin sell I imagine

Guaranteed years on a shit load of money's gonna be the only way a one win club will be able to prize blokes out of most teams, but will be even more difficult to get players in Prelim final contending teams.

The 'aura' of the West Coast Eagles is dead. No one with a working pair of eyes would've looked at our team this year and thought, shit, I'd love to play there!

Another player doesn't want to come to us ......remember we were told everyone wanted to play with harley...what a crock

Oh well to the draft

yeah but more game time more money surely that is an enticing factor

we must have so much spare coin in the cap compared to other clubs...would be nice to use it for some quality players

come on Pyke

Mitchell's pitch to Butler is easy, sure you will probably get more TOG at West Coast, potentially in a midfield capacity, but does it look like they are having fun playing footy over there?

For me one of the best aspects of getting extra rookie spots is that we can go after some of the productive 23-27 year old state level players (like this kid or Tom Berry or Dev). With our side and our midfield being rubbish we can offer them a better chance at breaking into regular AFL playing time and even if they don't cut it with the senior side, they can at least lead the Beagles' midfield so that they don't have to rely exclusively on teenagers and ammos in the guts. You can bring in a couple of guys who otherwise would be labelled "list cloggers" to help with depth and WAFL development without having to cut loose a 19 or 20 year player who has potential but risks getting squeezed out if he's not AFL-ready yet.

Well it’s fairly uncommon for two teammates to want to move to the same club.

Those were just the examples I could think of. Logue and Tucker to North might be another example, except I think there were multiple picks that went the other way.

As much as I do not want to lose him from Claremont, a rookie offer to Oliver Eastland would make a load of sense.

He immediately makes our WAFL team better and can play KPF as well. He is 27 this year and 199cm, has a decent tank and hardened body he is ready to ruck at an AFL level. If it is not Oliver, then players like him. He is average 35 - 40 HO per game.

How dumb are these footballers? Butlet had a 3 year plus triggers for a 4th year

But signs a 2 year deal and less money

Don't these role players realise they are 1 injury away from a normal working life post football
Or possibly spending most of the time doing a Dev playing VFL
