In my 5 minute deep dive of Henderson I’ve come to the conclusion he will be a handy addition.

- Versatile - was a small forward as a junior, then played half back and last year moved to inside mid where he won BOG in the GF

- Greatest strength is his running. Doesn’t stop and clocks 16km per game at full tilt. Seems to suit the frantic style of play we are moving towards.

- Smacked a goal from 50m that went through half post high

- 24 years old and 177cm

I feel that worst case he becomes an integral part of our WAFL team

Yeah Campbell Brown take on him. He listed him as 1 of the 8 VFL players that need a chance at AFL level.

Jack Henderson (Werribee)

“He won the best on ground medal (Norm Goss) in the VFL Grand Final and just took his game to the next level.
“He can play half-back, was thrown in the midfield this year when Werribee lost a lot of their stars, kicked two big goals in the third quarter in the Grand Final to drag his side back.
“Elite runner. Former Werribee coach Micky Barlow said he's dropping 16kms a game at high intensity. He would run players ragged.
“He's the sort of guy that if you are down to pre-season training, you’d ask how will he go in an AFL environment? He would run every play ragged
“And then as a coach and a recruiter would go, ‘Oh geez, we didn't know that about the guy’

Apparently was linked to the Dees as a late pick in the last draft

Oh geez, we didn't know that about the guy.

Didn’t know he existed until this morning so I have no idea if he’s the right choice for us. But he is the right type of player for us to replace Sheed

We needed to add a more mature body to our midfield depth to help out the youngsters in the WAFL whilst being young enough (just - he’s already 25) to have some scope to develop into an AFL level footballer.

At 177cm he’s a touch undersized but endurance sounds very good, bordering on elite, and having played, I believe, all but one game since his Werribee debut he’s durable

Has experience as a lockdown defender early in his VFL career so that’s a handy string to his bow as well

At a minimum he’ll be a more than handy addition to the beagles as he looks every bit the type of player that can thrive in the WAFL

Re Jack Henderson, we can thank Dom Sheed going out on a positive note, by default!

I'd be happy to launch now for a guy like Henderson. Whoever we get in the MSD won't have his resume, and we could really use a mature age mid as depth to protect the kids.

More than happy to grab a KPD and a Henderson type
have too say I totally agree.
Ideal replacements for Sheed spot are Dom Brew, George Grey and Jack Henderson in VFL imo, all VFL 2024 team of the year members.
Brew training with WB and probably signs there or wants a longer contract than what WC are offering, also 27 and probably falls outside of WC thoughts in age and upside.
Grey fits the profile HB/mid and 24yo with some upside.
Henderson fits the profile, mid who is hard at it inside mid, 24yo and won BOG in VFL Grand Final and has some upside and obviously is happy to get his chance on an AFL list.
The other list spot needs to be KDEF player whether that is Brock or a MSD player who has a strong start to the season.

Well Richmond of old had that midget brigade so why not have our own.
Neale and Zorko both did well in finals. So could work as a mid or hbf.

We have plenty of big bodies all over the park. As a 24yo seems worth a chance, only has 2 weeks to impress. Will be interesting to see if we have asked any others to train on.

Unoffical Reports are Brew has missed out on the Dogs spot. They’ve gone with Crossley.

He sounded pretty desperate for an opportunity so I reckon he would take a one year deal in a heart beat if offered. Might be who we look at for the 4th train on? Or if Brock or Van Es have been cut already

100% agree, 24yo DOB:01/10/99 and obviously wants an AFL list spot if he has agreed to come over

100% quality is quality

ok, had seen reports Crossley was ahead of Brew
Be interesting to see what happens now, WC might be thinking Brew at 27 doesn't fit our long term outlook?
Henderson at 24 does and has some upside?

Seems to be gathering legs. Brew is a bit older than Henderson but has a higher output. Inviting him over as well to go head to head with Henderson would be a good move.

ArdentEagle now all in on a Dogs flag.

Haha, that’s where I got it from and then Keys mentioned it.

Brew numbers are ridiculous, I haven’t seen much of him in the VFL. Does he have the attributes to make it at afl level? Henderson sounds like he 100% has. Henderson possibly could make it in any 3rd as well. Is Brew just a mid?

I’ve only got stats and highlights to go on, I don’t watch VFL unless it’s to look at a target playing 2s like Busslinger.

From the training reports, neither Van Es nor Brock seem to be impressing.
If Hendersen and Brew (assuming he even gets an invite) impress, I'd rather sign them than a KPD who is meh at best.

Worst case, our Beagles get some genuine class. Best case, two ready-to-go mature agers become best 22 until they can be usurped by better talents.

Good move, getting in an experienced midfielder, Sheed to miss the year and probably career ending, Yeo who normally takes a few games to get form will miss at least the 1st 4 or 5 games.
Insurance policy and great team management, another positive and intelligent move by WC.

I can definitely see why he's been overlooked. He's a real 'heart and soul' player, but he doesn’t look to have any weapons that scream 'pick me'. He's also 27, quite small and not the best athlete either. Very good state league player though

Brock had a good hitout in the last match sim on Friday and with Jamieson’s injury history we need to add a KPD
