ok, had seen reports Crossley was ahead of Brew
Be interesting to see what happens now, WC might be thinking Brew at 27 doesn't fit our long term outlook?
Henderson at 24 does and has some upside?
It’s the SSP. Likely to be a stop gap only as back up. If you get 50 games out them you’ve had a massive massive win. So being 27 isn’t an issue

I hope we hold off one spot for the mid season draft. We don't really need to replace Sheed yet.

Why? You can almost guarantee a long term injury between now and then, may as well get depth in now, specially for the wafl team.

We are unlikely to have pick 1 in the MSD. I doubt we get better than Henderson with pick 2-5 in the MSD, and we also miss out on probably what would be our best wafl mid for half the year.

No reason to wait

This is my concern with Clancy Dennis. Richmond have clearly looked to build their spine early and with Gibcus’s ongoing injury, Trainor more of an attacking 3rd tall and Faull/Sims/Armstrong playing forward he’d be a player of interest.

Agreed, my preliminary draft assessment would be:

Priority players:
Cody Curtin KEY DEF
Josh Lindsay HBF/WING

Players to shoot up rankings that would fit:
Sam Cumming MID
Sam Grlj HBF/Wing

Midfield best fit:
Dyson Sharp MID
Fred Rodriguez MID
Do you think WC can get Warner x 2, Sharp or Rodriguez, Curtin or Lindsay and 2 FS/NGA players with there draft hand?
WC potentially draft hand with them finishing 15th and Hawks finishing 6th would be 4, 13, 22, 31, 49 and 2026 and 2027 draft hand?

Could if they let Oscar go.

Pick 2 + ? Warner
Pick 3- (Oscar Compo) Sharp/Rodriguez
Hawks pick- Curtin/Lindsay
Bundle 20+ Hawks F2- Curtin/Lindsay (Northern state teams will be sellers for points with so many academy players this year)

Match 2 FS/NGA.

If Jobe or Archer are showing plenty I reckon the Swans will ask for one of them to be included in a trade for Warner.

Clancy Dennis is not coming to the Eagles. Not this year, at very least. Honestly sick of reading the blokes name on this board, i'm sure he's talented but the fact remains that he wasn't drafted and isn't training on with us.

File him in the same region of your brain that Deven Robertson lives in. Some of you fellas clutch onto unproven talent like a catholic clutches rosary beads on their death bed.

And, coming off best and fairest finals series and granny MVP, he is likely going to explode in the VFL....potentially placing him as pick 1 in the msd. If we don't take him and this happens the tigers will pounce.

Yes but only if Oscar leaves for a band 1 pick in that scenario
4-Fred
5,22 for Warners
13-Curtin
31,49-Walley, Banfield match
Cat B-Evans/Caton

What about Dennis’s game have you observed that has lead you to the conclusion that we wouldn’t be interested in a promising local KPD in the MSD?

Had similar thoughts except Swans will want and can expect Warners x 2 to be Hawks 1st and WC F1st(13 and WC F1st pick 6) being fair value.
Leaves pick 4 for Sharp/Rodriguez, bundle 22 & 31 for GC pick 10 or 12 wherever Curtin falls, might need to add a future 2nd or 3rd if its at the higher end.
Match 2 FS/NGA players.
Not selling Oscar.
Not including Jobe or Archer in any deal imo, would rather use future draft capital if needed.
Would mean WC have no 2026 1st, 2nd and maybe 3rd round picks, but I am comfortable with that.

It has nothing to do with what I've seen of him. Like I said, I have no doubt he has talent if that's what draft watchers are saying. Yourself included.

What I'm saying is, as far as our list management goes there is zero indication that we're considering putting him on the list, let alone trialling him. So why do I have to read a million posts about getting Clancy to West Coast? This isn't The Secret. You can't will him here by thinking about it.

I guess I don't see Oscar leaving and would be using our F1st as part of the Warner trade also.

I don’t agree with this and for good reason. Like all clubs WCE are aware of his surgery late last year and there would have been little to gain by having him as a train on given he can’t do the load yet.

If he starts the season strongly with Claremont league he will absolutely be the favourite for our MSD pick if available.

Yeah I think Sydney will want this years 1st round pick though. Would be a huge bonus if it’s next year and keep Allen but can’t see it happening. Might be able to keep the Hawks pick as it could be around their academy kid will go.

Definitely down to Oscar or Sharp/Rogriguz at this stage I think but who knows 12 months is a long time.

Might be able to keep Oscar and get
Warner x 2 for pick 2*+ F2
Starcevich - free agent
Curtin - Hawks pick (maybe Rodriguez if he doesn’t have a big year, the projected top 10s do change a bit in 12months)
Plus bundling up will be an option to get another first round pick.

That’s it, Eaglevision has declared Clancy Dennis to be the favourite for WC’s MSD pick.
Bookmarked for later reference.
Tells us about pick 3 again, please, please, please.

The main issue was pick 14, at least get it right. I look forward to revisiting this if he starts the season as I mentioned.

If Sydney want this years 1st round pick 4 then a F2nd in addition would probably be fair value.
Leaves Hawks 1st for Curtin and 22 left, to get back into the top 5 again for Sharp/Rodriguez might need to use our F1st and 22 which would be ok.
Use 31 and 49 on matching 2 FS NGA players Walley and Banfield.
Leaving WC 2026 3rd round and 4th round left.
I would be happy with that to get the quality through the door and then trade 2027 draft capital into 2026 for whatever we need to draft.

I also don't think Starcevich offers enough to our team, WC have a stack of HB types on the list already, we need line breaking speed and skill and Starcevich is a more lock down type.

He would be an excellent free agency pick up.

We looke like setting up something like:

Maric H Edward Hough
Ginbey McGovern Baker

Thats tall.

Duggan, Cole need replacing.

Does Chesser end up in the pocket? Johnson and Greggo coming through.

Duggan and Cole probably have 4 years.
Ginbey fits Duggan's role and place, we just drafted Baker, we have developing Grego, B Allan, Johnstone and without anymore draftees we have an abundance in that position.
Good player but imo a lower priority than KDEF and even a decent ruck.

Hard to pin down who he reminds me of but I’ve settled on Chris Judd

Matt Owies.

Bloke looks like if Matt Owies played midfield IMO.

Keen on giving our young Beagles mids some maturity now that Sheed is dead, but gee 177cm's is even smaller than Connor West unfortunately. Smaller than big bodied monster Andrew Gaff.

Brew is also another Mowies bodyshape clone so it's not like there's a truckload of mature big bodied players floating around for us to choose from i guess. Culley, ironically :grimacing:
