Near on irrelevant. It’s all about when you buy or sell in trade game.

Kelly would’ve cost as pick 23 at this stage in his life, 2 years later buying at his possible highest price due to form.
Yeah i get all that, but my post was funny.

I am firmly in the camp of you always look at the draft/trade season at the end and evaluate then, none of us no what's going on behind the scenes or where our club is throwing darts to see who we can get but what WC did with our draft hand in 2024 and turning it into 3 experienced players and the draft haul we got was extraordinary.
They where also very aggressive in their pursuit of multiple experienced players and players to complement our list needs, Busslinger for example.
I say tick, tick, tick!
If that's how we are playing going forward I will enjoy the ride and our next premiership will be closer than those outside expect, onwards and upwards.

Spot on mate!!
I would also add that last years trade period continues to play out next year too, because all of the returns for barrass are in 2025 draft.

pull off Warner trade with Barrass returns and be a very good couple of years!

Wondering how Dallas Mavs fans feel about this statement right now...
Day Valentine GIF

Freo signed Isiah Dudley for the last place on their list, any update on our end? surely Sheed has been moved to inactive.

Nothing official yet

Expect a decision will be made after the train ons press their respective cases in the match sim v Richmond on Monday

Tom Edwards ( SD ) kicks 4 goals in second half of practice match for Ess vs WB ....looks likely to Essendon . Ryanesque mark on Edwards . Eagles need defenders so not a need but match winner in the WAFL.

With Edwards now probably likely to get the Dons last spot. Baldwin will miss out, key defender and has afl traits. Might be one to try and get over to play WAFL for us and train with us with maybe the view of MSD. Like our KPD, durability is the issue.

I pretty sure that was Kelly being honest, let’s see what under a new coach/new environment brings
Cant blame Kelly. The club has been the pits the last couple of years with a coach that was over it and only there for his pay check .

As for what we paid in draft capital that's on the club but guys like Kelly and Baker have to wear the brunt of that unfortunately.

Look at bailey Smith and Geelong. They are over the moon and he is almost a cult hero already because they got him so cheap .

Every loves a bargain and hates being ripped off

Geelong fans might feel differently about Smith in the not too distant future. Apparently ppl around the club aren't too keen on him already

We can't blame Tim Kelly for the trade deal. Go back to the 2017 draft we took Jarrod Brander with our first pick then Oscar Allen and then Liam Ryan. How stupid was that. Oscar should have been our first pick then Kelly and Ryan.
The list manager at the time was Simmos mate Rawlings from Norf. The draft picks we traded to Geelong haven't had careers as good as Tim's.

O'Brien was the recruiting manager at the time though, would've been his decision.

Definitely and former neighbour Jack Hutchinson who he grew up playing kick to kick with.
I didn't know this about Z Reid? + his brother is likely to stay on and play for us for a few more years yet. Zach could be a very real target. What would he cost in draft capital a F2?

Is anyone else a potential target, excluding the Warner Brothers? A few names out of contact this year;
De Koning, Knobel, Starcevich, M Edwards (Geelong - comes with issues), LDU, Sheldrick, Kaleb Smith.

We should probably ignore all the names on that list. The exception is Starcevich, depending on what happens with Allen. Focus on the Warner Brothers (get it done) - and find a way to keep our first but still get Fred and Curtin in the draft.

Yeah mentioned it on the Eagles Pod. At the 2.30min mark.

Wouldn't be paying for Z Reid, if he gets delisted I would get him as a rookie, or a 4th round pick, very injury prone and while there is lots of talent we have the same problem with Bazzo and he will probably be delisted. Will depend if WC add Brock as SSP or not?
Starcevich as a RFA would be a decent pick up and not cost draft capital, not at the pointy end of list need but if he wants to come than he would be the only target outside of Warner bros.
Probably replaces Bazzo on our list, different players but list spot.
Going to need 6-7 list spots to achieve all of Warner x 2, Starcevich, draft best mid, Curtin and 2-3 FS/NGA players?
After Livingstone's performance last night, if he puts in a solid year in the WAFL he might have played himself into keeping a list spot?
This leaves these players that are in the fight for list spots:

Jamieson - delist
Sheed - delist
Rawlinson - delist
Chesser - trade/delist he needs to have a big year otherwise gone
Petch - trade/RFA get what we can in FA compo
Bazzo - if he cant get his body right I feel he would be next on delist players/if Starcevich gets here as FA he is gone
Cripps - if he has a strong year will probably get a 1 year contract, most likely
SSP - if WC sign an SSP which is likely and Brock most likely as KDEF option, if he performs he stays on if not delist.

After watching the Indigenous All Stars forwards together last night, I'm looking forward to Evans, Walley and McGlade (hopefully) joining our forward line in the next couple of years. Maybe Robbie Farmer too. How many small forwards is too many??

Too many if they don't have a defensive side to their game. We need solid contributors not ones that will flash in and out of games.

All of McGlade, Walley and Evans have strong defensive games. I haven’t seen Farmer play yet
