Cats model of using first round picks on established talent (Smith, Bruhn, Henry etc) hurst them because they need to continually replenish every year. I can't see where they get multiple top 10 picks from.
agree, Cats would be the least able to make the right offer

I think you are correct and are all linked!
And GAGF is a nice response!
I believe a VERY big 5 year offer has been put to Harley by WC.
Makes sense, takes him through to RFA and doesn't blow up our cap after that.

Curious as to who this 'A' grade WA talent is, along with 2x top 10 picks.

Only Essendon fit the bill and I presume Nic Martin would be the player on offer, although not sure I'd count him as A grade just yet and I believe he had no interest in WCE after we overlooked him.

Can't think of any other clubs that fit the bill of the supposed offer.

Really? 5 years? How do you know?

If you're just making it up, please don't lol. That would be beyond cruel to just say that for the sake of it. lol.

It absolutely is Martin, Essendon's first and Melbourne's first.

Essendon have long been linked to Reid. He did his pre-draft training with them, Scott loves him.

Plus good mates with Caddy (a reason we were so keen to get back in to that draft and link them together and Yas brother plays for them)

Don’t think they were all out planning for it though as they tried to use one of their 2025 first to trade back in last year for Murphy Reid I believe when teams though the Dockers would like to move their first into 2026 for Warner.

If it’s this year it will be the Dons. (But that’s all subject to teams finishing around where they are projected)

Not sure the Dons will use Martin by choice just got into their leadership group.

He also spent time at Carlton before and played an extra VFL game for them.

I've no doubt Essendon will do what they can but if it's Martin they're planning to offer, they'd want to be pretty sure he actually wants to move.

There were rumours he had no interest in a return to WA, especially the Eagles, after we overlooked him.

I also think it'd be pretty dumb of them to give up all that draft capital, considering they don't have the talent currently to contend. Reid isn't going to make them that much better that they'll suddenly be a premiership fancy.

Then there's the fact that Reid may have no interest in them himself.

I don't have insiders or explicit knowledge.
My info comes from somebody who has been right about several things WC recently, so I tend to believe them.
But based on the offer this person mentioned, I would be surprised if Reid turned it down.

Melbourne. They came hard for pick one originally and it would no surprise if they were still sniffing around.

Pickett, Tholstrup, JVR and McVee. Any of these players could be potentially used in a trade and Dees hold there 2026 1st and 2027 F1 plus always potential for Petracca or other players to want out for more draft collateral.

I never said anything about whether Harley would move there. I'm just saying that Brad Scott spoke about Harley last year and looked like he was about to cum, and talked about impressed he was and had this smirk which just gave me the impression he was cooking something up.

Bombers will be one of the most aggressive clubs in the Reid market IMO, but also one of the least likely Harley will play for. He has issues with a person on that list. Does not like them at all.....

Oh yeah I do remember that but Brad Scott always has that face, lol.

Interesting. Didn't know this.

Also think he'd prefer to play for an MCG club if he were to return to Melbourne.

Some things are not always as they seem...

I think if the bombers added Reid then they would have the talent to contend.
Get Zach Reid healthy, and with Caddy + Kako in the fwd line they'll be ready to push up the ladder into finals.
Their biggest issue is they lack A grade talent, I think they'll have that sorted if they added Reid.

Dees definitely could make an ok offer if they embraced the list refresh.
I'd argue they should 100% dump Petracca and Pickett who want to leave and chase young talents to complement the big group of young players they've already got.
They'd get at least 4 first round picks for Trac and Pickett for 2025/2026.
Add Rivers or Mcvee or something and its worth looking at depending on where those picks land

They need more.

Reid's not enough for them to contend with the list they currently have and if they're giving up say Nic Martin and 2x top 10 picks, then that's giving up 3 potential A graders for one.

They'd be betting on the fact that some of their current kids can massively step up, or they snag a few gems late.

Don't forget Brad Scott alluded to an 8 year timeframe before contending a couple of years ago, that leaves them another 5-6 years in his own mind, so they'd simply be better off waiting a few years.

This could work out perfect for them. Kossi and Warner? For Jackson and firsts

Would be quite a gamble for Fremantle to trade Jackson, with Fat Boy Darcy who is so injury prone and being unreliably available at the selection table, being their priority go to as their #1 ruckman.........🎲🎲🎲

Jackson is their Insurance Policy as a creditable ruck backup, ( all be it a very expensive one ), should the cake muncher not be match fit.

Yeah but if the gamble paid out with Warner and Kossi I’m doing it. Reidy to be back up and go get Knobel back.
