I dispute Smith. He's not a Cripps type. He's a possession monkey with good disposal and decision making.

I noticed that you conveniently ignored Allan's disposal. Unless you're a Fyfe/Cripps type, you're a bust. You have to make up for the poor disposal with being a bull who can continuously win clutch moments. Not many players are this beast. Could Bo be? Sure. But anything less and it's just a guy getting the ball and continuously coughing up possession. A bust.
Smith has average disposal, good is extremely generous. There really isn’t an elite player going around today that has similar attributes in regards to size/speed/lack of hurt factor. I challenge you to find me one.

Yep Bo has poor disposal, reckon you’ll find there’s far more elite mids with his attributes including poor disposal than Jaggas though.

So with all the chatter about how WC have stuffed up drafting and trading, and our midfield and leadership are crap.
What are your list of players that WC should target this year and next.

Presuming we finish bottom 2 and Warner doesn't come, we have our 1st(2), Hawks 1st(15-16), WC 2nd(20), Hawks 2nd(34), Hawks 3rd(52) and all of 2026 draft to play with, we need midfielders through the draft and trade period.
3 NGA/FS prospects to draft with later picks 30+ at earliest.

I’d add the Allen pick already at this point as well as some form of compensation priority picks, chances of us going in with that draft hand is zero.

Bo Allan's disposal is sure as shit better than Smiths. Particularly by foot and over distance. Smith is much better at racking up the pill but he is small framed, not tall and spent the whole year preparing like an AFL level player. I've said it before but I'd put money on him being a bust for a pick 3.

Allan's question mark is on him already being more physically developed and whether or not he can make it full time as a mid. When drafted and during his draft year he was definitely better in the midfield than Ginbey.

He is great overhead and works hard both ways. His short kicking is a major question mark and so is his ability inside. But as an Embley style tall wingman he certainly has that skillset in his repertoire. He's better off the ground than Ginbey was at the same stage as well.

so he is a quiet risk?

It's almost like you would have pick Bo with pick 3. Is your second name Clarke?

I admire that Liam baker looks to care about the club and works hard and can handle the ball cleanly but I’m sorry to say that anyone who disposes the ball like Liam baker should never be getting a $800kcontract.

Terrible skills is clearly an issue at the club and we went out and traded our top pick And gave a big contract to compound that problem.
Christ is that how much Baker is one? This club is an absolute joke. Baker is by no means a spud but he is a decent role player and complemented that successful Tigers side.

I went down to the game yesterday and made a few notes, not quite to the level of some posters but better than nothing I guess 🤣:
  • Dylan Patterson is a jet, but unfortunately tied to the GC Academy player.
  • Greeves was one of the best, played midfield minutes and also out of the backline in the last quarter. Good running patterns and often got himself to the right spots. Tough in the contest and showed a lot given he was playing against men.
  • Rodriguez was ok, certainly not quick but made the right decision more often than not.
  • Duursma was similar to Rodriguez, did a great collect and spin out of traffic in the last but didn't shoot the lights out.
  • Archie Ludowyke took some great contested marks and competed well in the air throughout the day.
  • Sharp look slow, didn't do anything that made me think top 5 pick.
  • The vertical leap on Zeke Uwland was ridiculous.
  • Didn't really notice Walley (no pun intended) which is a shame given I was trying to keep an eye out for him. Can be hard at the ground sometimes to pick everything up.
  • Tom McCarthy looked handy, can see why teams are looking at him for the MSD.
  • Was hoping to see Evans (main reason for heading down) but still worthwhile.
Zeke Uwland ? did he play ?

Not sure anyone decent is coming unless they just want an easy pay cheque with all these noise coming out from our own boys about the training or lack of and the standard of it.

Not sure what you're saying here?

Are you saying Smith is a "small framed low damage mid"?
Are you saying Langford is a "big bodied treacle slow mid"?

You know what I have no time for? People who, every time the draft comes around, think they know if a player will make it or not. I don't claim to know who will and who won't. I'm just following the data and percentages.
Then watch a few underage games. It's blatantly obvious which 2-3 players from every team are in the frame to be drafted.

If you want some percentages then take u18 form and +/- 10% and that's what you get in the AFL for average career.

"Making it", "elite", "ceiling", "talent" are just buzz words thrown around by people who think that everything fits into a nice checkbox.

I think if you had your fancy #3 then you wouldn't know what to do with it other than agree with what everyone else is saying because democracy always works out so well.

I don't mind have one old guy sit in the midfield and give Harley a hand. Between a few of them (inc. Yeo), they might get one of them on the park every week.
If we're gonna do that then just go Parfitt and be done with it, at least we might get a couple of productive years out of him
