Rather keep Ryan every day of the week
I'm with you in that.

For mine Ryan is one of our shining lights this year.

In previous years he was (IMO) prone to picking and choosing when he turned up. This year he has shown a determination to contribute for maximum duration.

Liking what I am seeing this year.

So the dream is 2025 draft Fred Rodriguez + the best big body inside mid, 2026 draft Doug Cochrane.

Academy kids round out the flanks and small forward positions.
Pick 1) Cooper Duff Tytler (think Kieran Briggs but with much better skills) as a ruck,
Pick 2) One of these three (if we get the comp pick of OA)
Oliver Greeves 191cm bull that gets a lot of the ball and uses it very well
Willem Duursma 191cm Mid /Def / Utility probably the most talented and versatile kid in the draft
Cody Curtin , 200cm giant with good skills that is a gun at both ends of the ground.

If we have pick 1 and 2 and don't pick a gun inside mid with at least one of those picks then fold the club

Gonna be that kind of nuffie and suggest that we could take Willem Duursma to help convince Yasmin to move to Perth to help retain Harley.

#4dchess

I reckon if Harley re-signs I'd pretty much bet my left nut she'll be an Eagle next year anyway. Carlton would probably try to squeeze a first rounder for her, but we'll cross that bridge if it ever happens.

I like the suggestion of including Zach Reid in a trade if Harley chooses Essendon.
Much rather their first pick + Reid than their first 2 picks, purely because draft picks are so speculative.

The real win out of the Judd trade was getting Kennedy, not pick 3 (Masten). This could be similar.

Too tall. We'll never be competitive if we don't start targeting elite ground ball players with a turn of speed.

Blues paid pick 21 and got Yaz and pick 25 back. She's played 3 games for them since being traded.

I don’t know how you watch West Coast and look at their list and come to the conclusion we should blow pick 1 and 2 on talls or Greeves, lol.

Not sure where Liam Ryan fits.

Maybe Essendon?

If so, get in Zac Reid’s ear and get him over here to play with his brother. **** it, why not actually try and target players from other clubs for a change…
Just can't see Liam Ryan in Melbourne from a family lifestyle pov.

We would need to be offered something good to trade him, not a pick in the twenties or thirties.
He is one of the genuine classy, experienced players we still have.

Sure, trade your assets but not for twisties.

I’m coming around to us taking CDT if he’s the best talent available at our pick.

For all the talk about mids, our ruck situation isn’t exactly a strength either.

Although I will admit to being worried about spending pick 1 on a “unicorn”. It for mine is often used too much to describe a player who doesn’t have a defineable set position. (Nik Cox springs to mind, and whatever it is freo have tried with Jackson) There's really only one player out there that I think is truly a unicorn and that’s Mark Blicavs.

Having said that, if hes genuinely someone that can use his agility to be a genuine clearance player and be an asset around the ground- that’s some serious tools to work with.

The two rucks taken with high picks who’ve had the most success are Naitanui and Jackson

The common denominator with those two besides their outstanding athleticism was they had an elite ruck to develop behind in Cox and Gawn respectively

It meant they could be eased into the ruck role during their early years

If we were to take Duff- Taylor he’d behind developing behind Flynn which is not the same thing. I understand the want to bring in a ruck but I’m not sure Duff- Taylor is the answer despite his obvious talents

In the event we end up with picks 1 and 2 courtesy of Allen leaving as a FA, I’d consider putting one of those picks on the table for a side that was keen to draft CDT in exchange for 2x R1 picks or a R1 pick plus a player

i mean the two picks + reid would be an absolute minimum. But as ATG suggests I would ask for F1 also.
i really hope he just signs on tho.
