I don’t see how moving Hickey on for a minor pick upgrade in an unknown draft is a good idea. Bailey should be our second rick next year so we’ll only have crab Vardy and beanpole Jamieson as our backup.

Hickey is a required player imo.

Hickey was poor for us this year and we almost have no use for him anymore. Anything positive we can get from him is good.

Allen can always play ruck too if we get desperate.

Yeah I’m torn. He’s definitely required if NN needs a rest or injured. On the other hand, he’s 29 and we have a shit draft hand. It’s probably the last chance to get something for him before he packs it up. Also, we can’t rely on two 30+ year old ruckman. Time to get someone new ready I reckon.

They will part with at least 2 first rounders, mark my words. There is no other way the trade can get done and there is no chance of him walking to the draft.

GWS should start at all 3 first rounders (assuming they can't convince any decent players to jump ship).

Cameron's CV is every bit as good as TK's, and he is no longer uncontracted, so the price should be similar (2 firsts and 2 seconds is pretty similar to 3 mid-late firsts on points).

Yep, having a decent backup like Hickey is a luxury we probably can't afford with list sizes being cut.

We had 5 rucks (out of 45 players) on our list last year, and most weeks played 1 of them. Insurance is fine, but Insurance for the backup and the backups backup is ridiculous. We wonder where our mid depth is, and why we don't get a state league ready to go player - because we have 10% of our list as backup rucks.

Turn Hickey into an improved draft hand (assuming he is happy to go), probably cut Vardy too.

The reason I asked is that there was an interesting gathering at a western suburbs hotel this evening. Simmo, Glass, Doogs and Young. Fairly informal but Young doing a bit of "behind the hand" comments to Simmo while Doogs and Glassy were talking. Simmo bought the snacks, a bit of finger pointing and nods in agreement and generally good natured meeting. Went for a good 3 hours.

even though Reid failed I was disappointed by WCE to treat Treacy and Reid like they were supposed to come in and be champions from day one in a limited season and scrambled pre season ..I can only assume they were just drafted to help Wce field a practice team for this year ..

I dont think they expected them to be champions but be better than they were. They weren't kids.

He is very like Neale, I have a first round grade on him, reckon he comes off the board at the end of the first round... very early second at worst.
