They might pick up Jeremy Cameron

Yes they might.

And if they do they are going to need to cough up a lot of coin to trump GWS from matching their offer.
Or trade for him and that will dilute their current hand of three first rounders.

If they pony up the coin to get Cameron, then some players will be squeezed out.

At the minute they are being linked with Cameron, Crouch and Higgins, two restricted free agent and one contracted players.

Going to be interesting to see how they pull that off, without loosing some quality themselves.

How can we afford him? What do we have to offer
I would think a future 2nd and maybe some change i.e a 4th or a 5th this year might get it done. Hard to tell. He was at the time a reach for pick 19 but he's been good since. GC are loaded with young players and I don't think he would be a huge loss for them. Would let the Eagles move Duggan up to the middle perhaps.

Would be stoked if somehow West Coast got Tom Powell the goal kicking midfielder from the Sturt Double Blues.

This kids a riser in this years draft cohort .
Had a bit of a read up on him after you posted. How is he not higher in the draft predictions?

Shooooosh ...... but to answer your question

I think he is a terrific prospect

Legit question:
Would you give up Brander for Jordan Clark?
Straight swap.

Both got 1 year to run on their contact.
Both taken at similar places in the draft - Brander pick 13 (2017) and Clark pick 15 (2018).

West Coast long on top end KPP and short on quality mids (and yes, Clark will be a mid. He turns 20 in October this year) while Geelong look long on quality mids short on top end KPP.

Clark is looking for more opportunity. I think he would slot straight in the fact he can play wing, half forward and half back makes him a multi position player like Simmo likes to have on board.

I rate Brander and I am sure the Cats rate Clark. Sometimes you need to give up quality to get quality.

It is a yes for me.

What about you BOND 007 ?
I was literally thinking about this today, I'm a yes. I like Brander but it's about addressing needs.

Bit of vision from weekends all star game, really like Isiah Winder from Peel. He's the first half of the highlights, great skills and in the Shai Bolton type player. Also killed the combine, winning most things.

Love to get him with our first pick.

Yes AsterixTheGaul

Because Clark projects with a similar potential to Yeo at this point, albeit a smaller version.

Athletic, zippy player with hugggge upside, potential to realistically play in the midfield and a high ceiling.

Brander is 'worth' more to them because they don't have the embarrassment of tall Forwards that West Coast does with Darling, Allen, Williams and Waterman. (exluding Kennedy as he'll be retiring)

Just like Clark should be worth more to us, as our midfield depth is absolute garbage. Both clubs would be better off with the player they don't have.

On the market in general, i believe Brander as a talented tall "should" be more highly sort after and valuable with an extra year of development.

Just a stab here!

Have you ever worked in 2nd hand car sales?

If not you sir are a natural. :thumbsu:

Everything you did say is true which helps.

Pies open to trading Tom Phillips, thoughts?

Perfect replacement for the Cats after Clark comes to us! :thumbsu:;)

Actually Phillips likely will be at Geelongnext year. They wanted him last season.

Somethink Clark should factor in as he is a winger and competing directly for the same spots.

Yep would do, totally agree about giving up quality to get quality. Think another poster mentioned earlier that we're all just scared Brander would go on to do very well at another club and make us look silly.

Can't think like that with trades IMO, sometimes gotta do a Jetta/Sinclair swap and fix the needs of your own list. If Brander went to Geelong I hope he'd do very well, best result is both players become better than they would have at their old club due to more opportunity and it's a win for everyone. As much as Branders market value might be alright he's not worth quite as much to our team at the moment based on the other players we have.

Unfortunately i think if we.dont trade him, he will never reach his full potential and wilp end up getting delisted anyway.

Better to trade him while he has worth and get in someone of worth and hope he does reach his potential.

Its hard to find a spot for Brander at the moment, but Darling and McGovern aren't that young. Both will be 29 by early next season and getting to that age where the cliff isn't far. Lose speed, start coping injuries, are managed more often. If you don't believe me, just have a look at JK. Our best ever key forward and at 33 his body looks shot and his output has been consistently dropping off (2019: 8 of 22 games he had 1 goal or less. 2020 it was 9 of 18 games).

Spots will open up.

There's a lot of love for Williams and Edwards, but they haven't proven anything yet.

I’m pretty sure the club would be all over him. Otherwise I reckon they’ll be hoping Zane Trew slips down to us. The other interesting pick is Joel Western for Freo. They’ll be keen to get him as NGA, but he’s not worth the higher picks they have. He might get taken by someone else (I pray to god it’s not us).

I never barrack for free agency moves. They just stitch all the other clubs not involved up by having their selections drop further pack in the draft

Cameron, Daniher, Atkins, Zac Williams, Corr, Brad Crouch, Gleeson, Issac Smith - All these dickheads clubs will get compensation picks.

I guess you can't get pushed back in the draft if you don't have any picks to begin with.

He's a free agent.

Not going to cost them draft picks.

If Geelong win this week and Cameron doesn't commit to GWS, reckon he's GORN.

Geelong won't be able to outbid GWS so if Cameron wants to go to the Cats it'll likely be via a trade.

On Jetta. I am mates with one of the physios who travelled to QLD with the team on the first Hub stint. He told me this:

After the port game, in the rooms jetta and simmo were apparently having a massive screaming match and simmo told him there’s no chance he’s playing another game this year until he sorts his head out. Was particularly focused on lack of defensive efforts upon return from the break.

Probably explains why it took him 10 weeks to get back in the team

I had heard similar. Jetta was also have problems on the personal front - in the process of separating I believe - and was not enjoying the hub as it was only increasing his anxiety over his personal situation.

Still, not picking him for the first final when mediocre players such as Ainsworth, Petruccelle and Ah Chee were selected, who gathered a whopping 15 possessions between them, is letting your personal feelings get in the way of the team benefit.

If Winder wasn't there at pick 30, I'd be more than happy with Trew. Pick 10 would be way too high for Western but I can definitely see 28 having to be used on him. They'll do well to use that pick on another player and then get him.

I’m sorry, but I simply cannot believe the Simpson and Jetta alleged “screaming match”. Old Softy (Simpson) doesn’t scold or yell at anyone. Just read this board. I’m sure it was nothing more than a mild disagreement over a cup of tea 🤷‍♂️

Curious to see if Simpson yelled at Darling, Kennedy, Hurn, Cripps, McGovern or Kelly during the same period.

Given the leaders performed worse than Jetta for the 3 QLD losses we had, i really hope the yelling was shared around to those who deserved it.

In fact, Fatboy Gov put in a diabolical performance against Fold Coast, and capped it off with some ill discipline and getting suspended.

And that's from the highest paid bloke on our list and stand in skipper no less ^
