As soon as the year came to a close I became very accepting of the idea of Cornelius looking else where, although with Leppa coaching now and the apparent exodus of players, it might be worth getting more than 2-3 games into him and showed renewed faith. I love all the haters aroud lately saying he's showing no work ethic or consistency blah blah blah. Vossy had basically given up on the man, only have to go back to the North and Gold Coast last year and even a year before that against adelaide. I know the man could put a lot more effort in and IMO he could produce that 2-3 goals a game that could be vital along with that occasional bag against a weak opponent, yes I have also raised my arms in dissapointment of the man, although I think his "potential" is worth a 2343224 look at considering our desperate need for key positioned forwards. o_O

Wouldn't be unhappy if he got a 1 year contract. Wouldn't be unhappy if he was delisted.

EDIT: I mean on the balance of probabilities I reckon it'd be more likely that he won't be much different next season, and won't break those barriers were need him to. But I'm always happy to be proven wrong.

give the boy 1 more year , new coach may see him in a different light , there were too many rats in the nest last season ! obvious by the kids all nicking off , poor selections poor management , least ace hasnt shun us like the rest of them. time for the haters to cut the boy some slack

As much as the guy hasn't cut it at afl level I was impressed with the leadership he displayed at the Neafl level. I don't know what the answer is. I don't think his wheels warrant continued development. He is a leading forward not a stand and wrestle player and he doesn't have the wheels for continued leads and the style of play demonstrated doesn't suit a player of his type. So for mine to keep. A player who occupies a sport that could be given to another that is not going to suites I say cut.

He isnt fit enough to continue leading up, some games he has looked OK first half and just gone out of it. How many opportunities can a guy have?

There is going to be a big clean out, I dont subscribe to keeping a guy just because he wants to stay, Bartlett wanted to stay too. Start afresh, new coach.

Would be happy to give him another year if Leppitsch sees a role for him. If not I won't be too cut up if he moves on.

I'd be interested to see how he'd go with a run of games with a slightly different role if JL can cook something up. I don't think he'll make it but I'd be very happy to be wrong :p.

I love that we're now at the point that our opinions on whether to offer someone another contract is based on the fact that he wants to stay at the club :D:D

I think he's been stifled by fear. Has kicked 35 in 25 games. Decent record that if you took it as 22 games this year he,d have kicked about 30 goals and been club leading golkicker. I ink he,d likely have kicked more than 30 goals if he played 22 games straight.

Unfortunately I think corny's cards have been stamped as he is playing in the wrong era. 1. He's a start in the goalssquare leading forward when that barely exists anymore and 2. He (apparently) doesn,t tackle enough in forward 50.

I,d rather play corny as a permanent forward all year, play Merritt in defence and drop Maguire. Think it would improve the team short term (Merritt more solid than goose in defence, Corny more consistent 2 goal per week forward) and could build to a long term pay off as well. Staker would be a swingman and rotate as a midfielder too and lisle would be chf and relief ruck (with staker/corny/brown) covering at chf when leuie is resting.

what were u saying about links earlier? :p
Fair call. Source=mine. Believe it or not.
Your choice, but those I know will trust my cred.

FWIW, I'm yet to see any quotes from Yeo.

I take anything from agents with a pinch of salt.

Or maybe whether Cornelius stays will be based on whether Leppa feels he can become an effective AFL player, not if we happen to have any list spots free. Loyalty is great but if you're not good enough, you're not good enough.

Yeo quote was from the agent...normally players don't have and/or allow agents to go around saying they are leaving when they plan to say...I would hedge my bets he is leaving.

On ACE... Perhaps expand a little ;)

But according to Richmond supporters, Martin's agent actually flew him around to meet other clubs without Martin knowing what was going on, so it must be happening all the time! :D

But this is Dusty Martin we're talking about. Probably couldn't see from the dollar signs blinding his eyes.

On topic, I gotta say no to Cornelius because he hasn't improved enough in the past few years. I don't want to give him a year just because "it's a clean slate, see what he can do" type scenario. I'd rather give Lisle more time, move Merrett back full time, and try to develop Stef Martin. I am by no means a fan of Martin, but he has potential to get much better once he builds up his strength.
