Not sure a guy who'se been completely wrong on the Pandemic from the start should still be spouting off but Norman Swan doesn't seem to have self awareness.
He's been wrong in saying Sydney should have gone with a hard and short lockdown at the start of all this
He's been wrong in saying the vaccine rollout is a mess
He's been wrong in saying we need specialised quarantine facilities built outside of cities

Oh so wrong.

I’m trying to find my block button on my phone can anyone help? because if I read any more stupid comments from certain posters about how masks don’t save you from covid but not being locked down will, I may go full crazy on their stupid asses. I feel like my IQ drops a little each time I read s**t. My husband is wondering why I’ve got my WTF? look on so often

This thread has certainly weeded out those without 2 brain cells to rub together. A bit like when the US election was on.

While that is good advice on personal sanity grounds I think we all need to think of the greater good here and engage in discussion and debate with even the most bizarre and hostile conspiracy theorists.

The more people calling these nutters and their echo chamber mates to account for their uninformed bs the better. And that applies not just to BF but to other social media platforms where the Alan Jones and Corey Bernardi types preach to their most rabid supporters.

When you have true delusion, you can't snap them out of it by arguing with them. No matter how much facts and logic you hit them with. It becomes part of their psyche and they won't back down no matter what. At that point you just block them out and let them bounce off their padded cell walls and hopefully not hurt anyone else.

Masks are mandatory in secondary schools but only recommended in tertiary institutions.

According to a teacher friend, she said department correspondence states masks are not worn in classrooms (of secondary schools). Most of the day teachers and students are in classrooms.

I certainly was not in favour of either protests, BLM nor Antilockdown during a pandemic but there were differences.

The BLM organisers at least attemptd to work WITH police and to follow distancing and masking directives.

The anti lockdown orotests were held during full lockdowns when the Delta strain is in the community and disregarded directives.

And the anti lockdown protesters were actually defeating their purpose by protesting, risking an extension of lockdowns if there is a super spreading event.

A definite difference.
But as ai said I am against both protests during a pandemic.

lol. You don't need to qualify it, a virus doesn't pick and choose which protest it wants to attend but the sheer hypocrisy is amazing. You still have trouble faulting the BLM one 12 months later whilst breathlessly losing your s**t about the ones last week.

and it's people like this making all the decisions that you guys love.

Instead of doing the easy thing and pull two tweets out of your **** why don’t you do a comprehensive comparison on the circumstances surrounding both tweets so we can make an informed judgment?

The one thing this proves for the 700th time is that these decisions should be made at a federal level. Like what happened in the States and Europe you now have a situation where one state which is completely incompetent will continuously endanger the other states.

Evidently "one of these things is not like the other" is too subtle a concept for some people. And doesn't that term come from a Sesame Street song?

Why would Scomo want that responsibility? Or blame…..

Did you read my comments or just go off half cocked as per usual?

Were you at the protests, now I am curious.
I wasn’t at either.

Or a case where the federal government put everyone in danger. In the Uk it would have been disastrous in Wales if they were forced to follow the English edicts.
In the UK the individual countries have been responsible for their own responses.
Wales had the highest vaccination rates and Scotland still require masks on public transport (for example), whereas England have a free for all now.

Yep, we are gonna be "Just like Italy" Swan.

Canberrans: we are the country's most educated and affluent people
Canberrans: we have a strong social conscience and willingly embrace a Greens government
Canberrans: we haven't had a Covid case in over 12 months

Well it's pretty straight forward. BLM protests during heavy restrictions were A-OK according to police and the Twitter crowd but any other protests were super spreader events. We saw the same double standard last year in Vic when the police commish in Vic was A-OK with BLM but then went into a womans house and arrested her for fb posts about a protest in what Shepparton? Nek minute Vic went into a extended lockdown but the same people still can't bring themselves to treat each protest equally. If it's not OK for one group it's not OK for another but the idea of equal treatment during all of this went out the window ages ago, look at anyone in gov employees vs private sector for example.

Swan is pretty annoying at times but he is a clear communicator. The Federal government has severely lacked this in this pandemic.

Honestly think the attention went to his head, probably a crescendo when he dramatised going to get a COVID test to the extreme.

I also think we are actually about to have our first wave which we never had, NSW isn't getting put back in the bottle.
