Well Victoria have done 160,000 tests on a big testing drive in the past week or so, look how many tests have been done in other states.
I have.

Testing still requires people to present to hospitals or be referred by their doctor.

It’s not like there’s vans full of doctors in hazmat suits, randomly pulling people off the streets to be forcibly tested.

Explain the bias?

SA and WA are independent leagues in states with almost no active cases.

APS is different though. Same state, should be governed by the same rules.

Unless the AFL/Nab League are making a financial decision to start later.

The ‘bias’ was a joke haha with western states complaining in the past couple of weeks about all the Victorian clubs get. Now there kids could get a massive advantage over Vic kids (majority)who only play nab league. Imagine another scenario where WAFL and sanfl were completely called off for the year, while nab league started up for 10-12 games, there would be massive uproar from out west.

A lot of our testing has been completed at pop up testing sites keeping people away from hospitals and dr clinics.

Every non Victorian state and team complains about the Victorian bias in the game.

I’m not sure there’d be an uproar.

There’s no NEAFL this year, and the QLD and NSW kids aren’t rioting (yet).

Hoping our kids get to show their stuff at some point.

With the junior competition becoming an U19 competition from next year, I’m hoping a lot of kids come to terms with this year.

What’s happening in Vic? Where’d the spike in cases come from?

1. They are testing huge amounts of people at shopping centres etc, they found 30 in 141/161k tests of people with no symptoms and they are planning another 150k plus before june
2. People returning to Victoria from overseas, which is about a quarter of the cases, every day or 2 there's 1-5 people from overseas that have returned with covid
3. There's has been a government cover up in melbourne that led to a meat factory (Cedar Meats)having an outbreak of approx 90 people with covid and 2 McDonald's have had small outbreaks recently in Faulkner and Craigieburn, northern suburbs of melbourne.

Funnily enough there's been no community transmission they say? The government reckon they have it all under control?

Im not too worried, the Cedar Meats was a government f-up because they didn't follow up on a positive test in mid April and now they have 90 sick people, the maccas numbers might rise, but they were cleaned down and re opened with different staff.

is it true that the NAB league has been delayed another three months till mid august??

i dont know? thats what someone here has said?
Guess with the AFL being extended into October , it may allow club or school footy to be played from say July 15 to Aug 15 , Nab League Aug 15 to Sept 15 , then National championships Sept 15 to Oct 15 . Big sticking point will be border restrictions and whether Vic Corona 19 rates decline as now three weeks behind everyone with their lockdown laws

I'll be pleased if there is no school footy, so we have an 8 or 10 week block of the best players competing in the NAB League.
School footy will happen and Nab League may not even happen this year

Interesting - Thought it would be easier for a NAB league to follow the COVID19 protocols, rather than school footy.

Funding is one of the main hurdles for Nab League

If local footy starts up (massive if) wonder if kids will go back and play for local clubs
That is pretty likely, I’ll hopefully be able to play some footy myself and our team will be back training on the 25th :)

They would have to, in the northern states we have about 40 under 19 year olds who have put their studies and careers on hold to go around again only for the afl sides to withdraw from the NEAFL , some draftable talent in there - Tozer, McGory, Gore and Thorne all Allies reps last year

I’m not sure 40 is an accurate figure. Thought it was 6 players per team.

And I’m pretty sure the clubs would have encouraged the kids to work or study part time at least

If a kid has committed to chasing his dream, and is not working or studying, that’s more likely the kids choice.

As for Tozer. I was at most Wednesday afternoon Lions training sessions before Christmas, and never saw him training. One of our other members saw Tom watching training, and reported he’s injury free.

Bruce Reville was at most sessions, and Tom Wischnat at a couple. Wischnat looks a serious unit, has the body to be a stoppage beast.

Geesus I need some serious draft podcasts out soon.

Without going to deep into stuff, they’re the main thing that switches my brain off and puts me to sleep.

Next time I’m on ‘the final siren’ I’ll randomly shout out “wake up Briztoon”

Just did this on the Swans board but I looked at Cal Twomey's top 10 draft prospects for 2019 a year out from the 2019 draft to see how correct he was.

Anderson - Pick 2
Jackson - Pick 3
Jeka - Pick 9 Rookie Draft
Rowell - Pick 1
Serrong - Pick 8
Sharp - Pick 27
Taheny - Pick 50
Williams - Pick 23
Worrell - Pick 28
Young - Pick 7

So a year out, Twomey did predict 5 top 10 players, but the other 5, while all drafted all went considerably later than he expected, especially Jeka who was only picked up in the rookie draft. A 50% strike rate isn't brilliant.

and that isn't a slight on Twomey, but it shows how much things can change in a year. It isn't unreasonable to think that if no under 18's football is played this year that the 2020 draft will be filled with a lot of bad selections, especially in the first round.

Even a player like Bruhn, as classy as he is, if no nab league gets played this year his falcons career would’ve only consisted of 2 games over 2 years. That’s a very small sample size for taking someone in the first round.
