When an idiot is next to an even bigger idiot, the first idiot looks like a genius.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Jacinda fan, bit she is streets ahead of this deadshit.

I ****ing hate it when I have to be seen to be supporting the likes of Morrison from morons that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Morrison will be taking advice from health department virology experts who will be running "phylogeographic" infection rate computer models in order to STEM the flow of infection to correlate with the peak loads of the medical system.

There's no "policy" that can stop infections altogether. That's sheer idiocy. What's more, it's a stupid idea.

In a situation like this, we have to back our leaders in, regardless of our political persuasion - within reason, of course. Morrison is doing fine, even though, personally, I dislike him. He’s following advice now and leading from the front. Trump is a worry, though. He’s far too volatile. He seems to think he can blather his way through, like he can with trade and war situations. Unfortunately for him, a virus has no fear or care. I think the penny has finally dropped for him now, thank heavens. He’s had a lucky break that his test came back negative. That allows him to regroup and maintains his “teflon” appearance.

You back in the scientists mate. Albanese would be doing the same thing.

The fact that schools are still open, yet 500+ gatherings are banned blows my mind.

I don't even think we've done anything to firmly close the borders still, a lot of international students are flying in and out.

And there are absolutely zero measures in place for this supposed 14-day self-isolation thing for those coming into the country.

You’re doing it all wrong. You should be cheerleading for Jacinda’s pioneering...

He dismissed it as media hype a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't go down the route of making fun of others (who haven't actually done what you're claiming) when Mr Science and Reason jumped off the deep end at the first opportunity.

How is the isolation policed?
Is mandatory and legally enforceable under the purview of the state police forces. The exact details will be forthcoming soon after more feedback with the states.

This includes from all country’s, with NZ’s excluding the Pacific island nations.

Social isolation (distancing) is the current policy for schools, but that can change quickly with a meeting on this issue on Tuesday.

Here is what Morrison said:
“When you take children out of schools and put them back in the broader community, the ability for them to potentially engage with others increases the risk, and that is the understanding we have. There are also issues of herd immunity to elect children as well... And we may want to touch on those issues.
The other issue is the disruption impact that they can have and put a great risk, the availability of critical workers such as nurses and doctors and others who are essential in the community because they would have to remain home and look after the children, and so while it may seem anti-intuitive, there is very good reasons why you would not be moving to broadscale closures of schools, that could make the situation worse, not better, and so the states and territories are not moving in that direction, we will consider this again at our meeting after Tuesday night.“

We have closed off travel from the main hotspot and countries of concern. Again, that can change.

Measures are being put into place now for the 14 day self-isolation, with legal backing already in place.

Nothing about that statement sounded like social isolation regarding schools, if its business as usual and they all attend that is not social distancing. Its just saying 'well if you takes kids out of school, parents are ****ed because everyone works due the dogshit modern economy and if kids stay at home they're just likely to go outside anyway.'

I withdraw my original cheerleading statement as I read back through the thread and noticed I misinterpreted a post.

SB have our agreements and disagreements on various issues. We aren’t in collaboration on this, but we have some similar opinions.

Any economy would buckle if prolonged school closures were implemented, not just our own. The other concern would be the health sector and being stuck at home looking after kids. I support the use of school closures if support measures were introduced.

The social isolation measures would include directives to staff, teachers and students in regards to maintain gaps between people, no handshakes and other aspects of social isolation.

You also believe it is media hysteria whipper up to cover for the fact that the climate change hoax is losing traction?

You know my opinions on CC and they differ from SB’s. Neither are hoaxes, but I don’t know enough about the hard science of both to have a settled stance. Always open to new evidence.

Just curious, is it the same with Tertiary places ? (Uni/TAFE etc)

Righto.

We just had some clown have a test in Aussie and then decided to jump on a plane to NZ, where he finds out he's positive. what an absolute self centered moron.
His face has been broadcast everywhere here so 2 weeks in a wellington hotel might be the safest place for him !

Naming and shaming will work wonders on selfish dickheads. The lack of common sense at this point shouldn't be tolerated, and the only way to prevent more ridiculous behaviour is to just hang shit on these people.

Nothing spurs a common crowd on more than humility and insecurity.

Same policy as the schools is the current directive. The government is apparently meeting on Tuesday, so I expect updates soon.

This should change the uni situation, at least up in Convict Town.

If you actually take note of what happened he has ignored expert advice to enable a religious wank fest in the middle of Sydney.

Maybe that's a good thing. I dunno.
