Martial Law is imminent.

Power-hungry politicians around the globe are going overboard to exploit the Coronavirus. They are granting themselves more control over state and local governments.
They will try and vaccinate and microchip us. The vulnerable may perish and we the fit and firing will be weakened. Those that refuse will be sent to FEMA concentration camps. The others will be locked up in our homes and communication lines will go down leaving us with an inability to organise a resistance of any note. They were making bioweapons in labs while we were too busy bickering about non-existent wage gaps, left vs. right, and cross-dressing storytime.

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES, AND WE ARE SITTING HERE ASKING FOR THEM TO HELP US!!!

I'll take no solace in saying "I was right all along" but I will say it because I have a dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit. I am not in fear but I am also a realist.

A friend of mine manages a vast amount of money for the largest global privately-owned wealth manager. They have the resources and connections to tap into the leading global experts on every issue and the best analysts to run the models. They have a working assumption that this will kill 12 million people worldwide. We are less than three months into this with over 10,000 deaths already even with extreme action being taken by many countries.

There is also evidence that the right action can effectively curtail the impact. That is why our government is acting.

The paranoia is from those who truly believe that if they don't stay in their houses like good little boys, they might die from a superflu.

And it is this paranoia which has led them to accept and even support the government closing down entire industries.

Which will of course mean that innocent people will lose their livelihoods.

Fear leads people to lose all objectivity. And you clearly are in fear right now.

What government in the world would purposefully tank their economy for a flu?

It seems those in power deem the risk of overflowing hospital wards sufficient enough to take some very restrictive actions on people, actions not seen for a very long time.

It's in the best interests of capitalist society to keep people relatively free and prosperous to maintain the status quo, and the fact that everyone has done such an about-face on these tenets so quickly and openly indicates, to me at least, that longer term prosperity is at risk should we not have taken strong action.

Re. Your point on prexisting conditions, I'm shocked to be sitting here reading that the elderly have conditions that make them susceptible to a flu (that spreads pretty quick and we can't vaccinate against). But again, sick people regardless of age require care. Many sick people at once is bad for a hospital. The infirm elderly in Italy died so that others may live. It's rough, and you're right, it's life. But what happens when the wards are full and we can't treat people quick enough who would otherwise be attended to?

It's a shit situation but I don't see how taking another approach makes it any less painful.

I am not sure that are any others quite like yourself. You are the only one suggesting this is a global conspiracy by governments, scientists, hospitals, the media and others to deliberately wind back democracy and freedoms. Even if that were true, why would the Chinese start it? They have given their citizens much in the way of true freedoms or democracy to start with.

You reek of fear. Unfortunately, it is a fear of something you have invented in your own mind. Too much acid perhaps?

I do respond to people that naively believe Australia has nothing to worry about because I understand the statistical modeling and have seen enough evidence of how quickly this thing escalates. You only have to bother with this if you leave and return, or to ensure visitors sterilize before they enter your premises.
