How could you turn that into a negative?

my point is while they’re busy ‘doing the right thing’ (for a change) they will use the covid19 crisis to indulge in malfeasance that they would otherwise be scrutinised for eg: vic govt has opened up coal seam gas exploration and continues to log the last vestiges of native forest, the sportsrort will slip from view, the bushfires response? No one will care. Hopefully after this is all done some journalist willdo a stocktake of all the shit things govts did while they were throwing money at us. I suspect however it ends up the world as we know it will be altered irrevocably. 🤯

Blame the state government’s and councils for the screwups with the cruise ship, casino and Bondi. They are the ones responsible over controlling those facets.

The schools and public transport remaining open is based on advice of Australia’s best medical minds. I don’t agree with it, but I’m not an expert either.

Not saying you're wrong, but would think that'd be fundamentally be a Commonwealth responsibility - immigration?

No they didn't. They removed the moratorium on conventional onshore gas. They actually enshrined a ban on coal seam gas in the state's constitution.

They removed the moratorium so they can access Commonwealth billions to build the transmission infrastructure required to ramp up renewables massively.

I thought that I was pretty straight forward. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee is offering advice directly to the national cabinet. You would assume that they taken on a few bits of advice from them, but I'm not sitting in on the national cabinet.

Damn. Be nice if we had someone in there. Wouldn’t it be great if those things were televised and we all had a say? Though as seen by the toilet paper situation people are pretty stupid so maybe it’s best we’re kept in the dark?

If they can manage to handle this situation, keep everyone fed and warm whilst simultaneously sneaking in shit, then brother, they’re playing on another level.

I’m over having mates say, ‘Yeah but it’s gunna get shut down ya know’ re. the footy season.

No shit Sherlock. I’ll enjoy it while it’s happening if that’s ok with you.

Blatant vote buying for the next election. Which will be covered by the covid19 defence, as will the brexit fallout. Watch as governments all over the world embrace covid19 as a reason to avoid all the shitty things they should be held accountable for!!

It is 4 years and 9 months til the next UK election and he's got an 80+ seat majority.

I'm not Johnson fan, but this is just sensible policy - they need to keep as much cash as possible in people's pockets.

Well, I'll let you know whether they did take advice or not when the national cabinet reports become publicly available in the national archives in a few decades time.

In theory yes, but really, no.

For the eastern states collect the things you need from work, as it’ll be locked down further.

If not now, then soon.

End of the month is what I'd heard.

Putting it out there now so that if it happens I can claim credit for the prediction:

We will see an AFL EGames premiership season in 2020.

Exactly. What a joke. He's just romped an election in. Maybe he's actually governing.

You would think so, but state governments are largely responsible for implementing the port controls outside immigration, which included implementing the federal ban. NSW Health was responsible for implementing controls for the cruise ship, not federal immigration services.

State and territory governments have responsibility for land use planning and controls, including for ports, their adjacent land areas and connecting transport systems. Local government also makes decisions that affect ports, including on matters such as planning requirements and local road access. State or territory governments have historically owned port authorities; however there is a trend toward privatising these assets on a long-term lease basis.

Johnson's only attractive quality in this situation is his willingness to abandon political orthodoxy (he has none, he's the ultimate opportunist) so he's able to chuck Tory beliefs out the window and bring in measures that would be decried as communism if Corbyn had suggested it.

Yep, good post, but fundamentally the feds could ban cruise ships from coming in though no?

I fail to understand why it seems that different rules apply apply to cruise ships and planes.

Yes, the federals decide on special exemptions under certain strict conditions and control immigration. The state port authorities enforce the health, disembarking and transportation controls as they are state ports, not federal. There is an overlap. In this case, it was up NSW to do testing before doing the immigration and on-land border stuff.

The differences lay in different laws and responsibilities for airports and ports. It’s quite a jumble and can be quite confusing.

The media is making a killing off this. Stick to the ABC. Don't go anywhere else.

You were travelling well up until that point.

Stick to the science sources and journals

It's good yeah? How much money has he got though? 80% of salaries seems like a shit ton of cash!!
I believe it's up to a certain amount - £2,500 if memory serves

Edit 2,500 a month
Non-essential business?
Most non essential places around melbs have been pretty much ghosted anyway. Hopso is begging for a shutdown to put us out of the misery. I'm sure a lot of businesses are.

I'd have to go back and look, and but expect it goes back to the shitfighting at Federation. Seaports being huge revenue raisers back in 1901 and the whole protection/free trade debate.

Obviously airports not an issue then.

People trust the ABC for a very good reason.

This is what you said about the crisis. Tef Claimet.PNG

Seems like a recipe for good leadership to me?
