And what about the medium to long term ramifications of such behaviour?

That’s the point. Stopping businesses from going broke, continuing to trade, employing people, keeping skills in businesses so they can gear up when the economy recovers. And it will recover quickly when the virus runs its course.

Stop the economy from spiralling down with rising unemployment, lowered tax collection base, greater welfare dependence. Not to mention all the social problems rising unemployment and bankruptcies cause to not only the economy but society as a whole.

This is exactly the time that central banks step in and do these things. Times of crisis such as 1987, 2008 and now. This is what central banks are supposed to do.

Ok, AFL footballers from the surf coast of Victoria are smarter than a politician in Cabinet.

Do you still have posters of Saints players on your bedroom wall Pluggsy? 😆

Why are you so determined to argue with people who don’t like Dutton? The guy spends all his time trying to bring in new laws that will further reduce any privacy we have left. Terrorism isn’t a threat in this country, but is still used as a reason to further restrict what citizens can do or how much spying can be done on them. It’s sickening.

the only good Scott Morrison has done in the last few years is put his hand up when it was clear Dutton was going to topple Turnbull. People can whine about Scott Morrison until they’re blue in the face, but they should be thankful it’s not Dutton.
He was a copper, sure. Gotta give him credit there, we all know QLD cops are the best money can buy.

Staff member at club was tested on Friday will get results back tomorrow.

I think we only get one round in this year, and then most likely teams will be made up of state league players and we get a condensed version of the game.

From what I've read the only reported cases in Australia have been from those who just returned from overseas or people that have been in contact with someone who just returned from overseas.

I think being so far away from the rest of the world helps us out. Hopefully we can limit the spread of the virus and I know there's bigger issues than the footy but it would be good to continue with the season.

I think you’re right George. I can see the whole season either truncated or cancelled. Probably the latter. Hopefully none of our clubs go broke in the process.

I think Australia will avoid the pandemonium we are seeing overseas. We have gone hard with the prevention measures before the spread of the virus has taken hold. It doesn’t mean we are immune but it means we will be able to contain the impact. Our vigilance will be rewarded.

My sister is a very senior nurse in the public health system and she has told me that the peak of the pandemic in Australia will be June/July. Then it will quickly run its course and fizzle out.

The timing for our country is that we cop this virus for the full winter period rather just a portion for it.

I don't know him. Never met him. He is hardly Satan.
I just wouldn't wish a killer virus on anyone. Firstly because of that person's health and secondly because it spreads to others which can kill others.
Well no one wished it on him, Danger said he should go stay on Christmas Island because he's had no qualms about sending refugees there. Also walked out on the apology to the stolen generations. And you talk about staying classy.

Doesn't a group of supporters gathering in a small area defeat the whole purpose of no fans at the football?
Less than 500 is acceptable.

So pubs can’t advertise?
Right now, no they shouldn't be encouraging random people to gather in small, crowded areas where the virus can easily be transmitted.

Everyone needs to start taking social distancing seriously before it is too late. And this gathering or just hanging out in pubs in general, is exactly what we shouldn't be doing right now.

Still not something that should be encouraged.

Doesn't matter if it is 500 or 50 people, non-essential gathering that can easily spread this virus further should not be happening or advertised.
Well then the health authorities should say as much. If you want to be extra cautious, don't go.

As I’ve said previously you need to do what you need to do. I went to 2 pubs yesterday and a party. Unless we actually make it illegal to go places some or a lot will continue to go.

If what they're all saying about China covering up Covid-19 and trying to prevent people blowing the whistle on it with the actual virus starting much earlier than reported, then who's to say it hadn't already spread around the world much earlier then what has been stated.

Around Christmas-New Year period myself and a few family members became ill with flu like symptoms that were exactly those of which are related to the corona virus. It took me 2-3 weeks to fully get over it and at it's worst i could not stop coughing, had hot and cold spells and sore throat. Now it may have just been the regular flu, but it does seem suspiciously similar to what people are being reported to feeling. Dad spent the best part of 3-4 days in bed and went to see a doctor only to be told it was just the flu and just to keep up the cold and flu tablets.

With Doctors not testing for Corona virus that early, and most people only getting mild symptoms of which you wouldn't go to the doctor with unless you were really sick, how do we know that it hadn't already spread much earlier than reported?
Sound like exactly what I, my wife and daughter had. Cannot recall ever being sick like that at that time of year.

As you say, weren't testing for it then and could have been anything, but it was highly suspicious.

Went to work, family gatherings and two days at Boxing Day test ( sorry Michael, Narrelle and Ben). No wonder Kegsie pretended not to see my at the Bullring [emoji3][emoji3].

Wont be surprised to find this was here much earlier.
P_d7 and me might have been early adopters [emoji6]

That wasn't the reason.... 😉

I've just finished a week of work with the same team. At some stage through the week about 50% of us have had a sore throat. It's never gotten worse than that and was probably just a case of being run down. But who knows? Being in the incredible physical nick that i am i probably just beat the bastard.

Maybe beer and dim sims in the best vaccine 🍺🍺

Maybe? Certainly

Just because they will go doesn’t mean they should. Do we really need something to be made illegal for it to be considered nonsensical? It’s a simple consideration of whether people think some short term personal enjoyment is worth risking the health of others. I’m currently cooped up in my modest New York apartment and I’m not a member of an “at risk” population group, but people are — and will continue to — die because people who aren’t at a high risk feel that they deserve to be able to “enjoy life” and won’t make small personal sacrifices to aid others. The more people get sick, the worse the economic impact... which effects (affects? I think effects) everyone directly and/or indirectly. Some sensible behaviour now could help everyone. I normally keep my mouth shut on here but I simply don’t understand how people feel comfortable employing a “she’ll be right” attitude in these serious and evolving circumstances.

As I’ve said many times you need to do what you need to. You also Said don’t make it illegal but then say people have the she will be right attitude. Yes they do. I certainly do. Everyone at the pub probably did so unless it’s illegal then people will go to pubs. Of course they won’t make it illegal but that will mean many will continue to do what they do daily. I certainly will until I either get sick or we shut down places.

Ok. I got it.

We quarantine Tasmania and put all incoming visitors into self isolation for 2 weeks.

Then we fly all 18 teams into Tasmania for season 2020 and the season commences after each team has completed a further 3 week isolation camp.

Tasmania gets to watch every game live for season 2020! Saints to be based at Penguin!

I most certainly did not say “don’t make it illegal”, and I’d appreciate you not misrepresenting my words.

I genuinely and wholeheartedly hope no one dies or is negatively impacted as a result of the careless behaviour that you’ve decided to continue to engage in as it relates to managing this pandemic.

Careless? Are you serious. What about people going to work on a train or going to Costco where there about 1000 people the other day. Do as you want and so will I until I’m told otherwise. Emotive

Sounds funny but that could work!!!!

Certainly some interesting poinnts
Should get the discussion going
🤭

Seriously hope this is a joke website...

"Another hypothesis, at this point only a hypothesis, but a realistic one, is that along with the vaccination – if not with this one, then possibly with a later one, a nano-chip may be injected, unknown to the person being vaccinated"
