MRP / Trib. Crameri suspended for 2 weeks (rough conduct)

I still think the MRP, or at least SOMEONE in it, has it totally in for us.

We seem to cop some totally random and dumbfounding decisions

Considering Walker got 3 weeks for a tackle that could have seen a guy crippled for life, who also has a bad record, Crameri only gets 1 week less for that bump.

Hey AFL arsewipes, the club bent over & brought in a crap clash jumper & this is how you repay them. GAGF AFL.

READ THIS BEFORE CRYING FOUL AND POSTING IN THIS THREAD!!!!

Seriously people calm the fudge down and actually read what has happened aNd why before cracking the shits like a bunch of children.

No Broken jaw, No suspension. thats what it comes down to in effect. Which is rubbish. Crameri braced for unavoidable contact. that someone is accidently injured is no reason to look for someone to blame. There was nothing illegal in Crameris action. Did not leave the ground, did not raise an arm, was slowed to an almost stop and turned to brace for inevitable impact. Do yexpect him to just face plant the guy? No need for the over the top caps crap.

He got him high and broke his jaw, I can't see how anyone can logically argue against the finding.

I thought he was in trouble as it happened. Obviously the broken jaw doesn't help but you just can't hit high like that anymore.
Will miss Cram as I love watching him play but as others have said a couple of weeks off may be a blessing. He seems to be in the arms of the trainers at least once a week atm.

Oh god, Crameri is the LAST person you would expect to be malicious. Yes, he's a wall of bricks, but he's always genuinely playing the game and wouldn't be out to hurt anyone.

Doesn't his good record come into play at all?

The offence wasn't even that big of a deal to be noticed. Complete bullshit.

Right or wrong Franklin got suspended for the same thing, as it has been noted you take matters into your own hand if you decide to bump rather then tackle, if you hit them in the head you are in trouble. Unfortunately the hip and shoulder is no more but you have to protect the head.

This will be a blesing in disguise, 2 weeks rest for stewy will do him the world of good in the lead up to the finals. Had a look at the footage and it probably does warrant a suspension, high contact to the head with a fair bit of impact.

OK so by all this logic if someone tripped someone and they managed to fall and break their jaw does this make it a 90 odd point penalty or 3 weeks for breaking someones jaw. It is about the crime and the intent when it happened and this is clearly not worthy of what has been handed down. Shit Lonrgan tackled Carazzo who missed 8 odd weeks by jumping into his back should he get 4 weeks for that?

Funnily enough yes (and I by no means am arguing that it's right). Remember the Lindsay Thomas and Gary Rohan incident. It was graded as severe impact. Not exactly the same as tripping, but it's a similar thing, if Rohan had gotten up fine, the MRP wouldn't have considered it.

I dont really remember the incident but if this is the case then they need to reword the rules. If a player performs a penalisable incident and another player is hurt because of it then they will be suspended for 3/4 of the time the other player who was injured cannot play for. So dont trip someone coz if they do a cruciate you'll be out for 9 months. I wouldnt care if the MRP were consistent in these findings but they are not and this one is an overkill. We seem to have had many overkills handed out to our players this year for stuff that that other teams seem not to be done for and i for one cant stand the thought of seeing anything to do with MRP on Mondays

I know we've had a rough run in the past but seriously 2 weeks is fair enough when you take into account all the factors of the incident. Plus from an Essendon point of view this could turn out unexpectedly good. Firstly we don't have to drop someone from a winning team to fit Davey in (although we can if we think its needed for team balance etc). Secondly Crameri is carrying an injury and 2 weeks break will hopefully allow him to recover and be refreshed for a very tough finish to the year where we will definitely need him fit and raring to go. Not minding that he will miss against an injury depleted Port and be back in time for Geelong.

Thirdly we have players that are fit and in form at Bendigo that haven't been given too much of a go, the likes of Browne, Kavanagh, Colyer, Dyson (if fit) etc, so we have some genuine options plus an opportunity to maybe find out a bit more about a bloke or two and see if they could contribute come finals time. I think its important to remember that once it hits say round 20 they probably won't give anyone new a go, unless all hell breaks loose.

Finally and most importantly we now finally have a chance to bring back the 3 ruck policy. Just picture it, Ryder, Hille, Bellchambers just rotating between the ruck, forward line and the bench. We will have the benefits of Hille's tapping, Bellchambers movement and spread and Ryders mongrel and aggression. What can stop that I ask you?

OK only kidding with that last one. Although it would almost be worth it to hear the united groans from the Bomber faithful.

What we don't know also is whether crameri would even play the next two weeks, bleeding in the calf around the Achilles is one annoying injury, probably best he rests.

I posted in the MRP Chook Lotto thread that I am totally opposed to the fact a medical report is used to determine the severity.

It should be the action, not the result of the action, that is looked at. Walker could've put Morris in a wheelchair but the fact Morris is alright means he only gets 1 more week for a very crude dumping tackle as opposed to what was not much more than a soft bump (more bracing for inevitable contact IMO given Crameri had forward momentum at the time).

Still, can't change it and given the way things are then we have no choice but to cop the suspension.

If Addison had sustained absolutely no injury, it's probably the same gradings.

He rammed a shoulder into a face. That is weeks. The end.

Don't see the issue.

so in this case crameri to me was blocking moreso that bumping to hurt.
It doesn't actually matter.
He went at him (whether to block or bump), and hit him high. Whether he intended to take body on body or not, he actually hit him high.

This is as soft as butter and surely the grading is far too high for the incident. The MRP have it in for Essendon bad and it really makes my stomach churn because of the inconsistency.
Not even in our worst 10 tribunal decisions.
It could've maybe been 1 week; more likely 2.
I get the feeling an Essendon player could shoot someone and you'd be arguing they shold get off.

If he'd taken a bit more care and got down a bit lower the bump would've been far more effective, and also legal. Could absolutely cream him through the guts/ribs.

Don't see the issue either Slatts. Wasn't particularly malicious from Crameri, but his shoulder clearly made forceful contact with Addison's jaw, broken or not, and contact was his fault. The very first thing I did after seeing the incident was find out who we were playing the next 2 weeks.

Factor in that Crameri is injured and could probably use the rest, then wtf are people going on about!?

Could've hit him lower, bit reckless. High and late. Don't see what the issue is?
2 weeks every time.
Yep, add to that he broke Addison's jaw. Probably lucky to get only two.

Meh.

Was talk that he was injured and would have missed this week anyway.

Give him the 2 weeks rest. He needs it.

It really annoys me that to me, it always feels like the tail is wagging the dog with the MRP. If there was no injury, they wouldn't of even looked at it.
I don't like the fact that the player gets punished for an injury. Addison slipped down, if he stayed up straight, he wouldn't of got hit in the head, Crameri couldn't of tackled as the ball was already free, he didn't have much other option than to bump.
It just frustrates me.
