Crazy Days - what a mad 12 months!

Watch it up to De Goeys goal in the last Q and then switch it off and go for a long walk..

I was sure we had it at that goal. Or at least, my mind went: we just might win!

I personally never watch a replay of any game we lose.

This has always been the case for any sport I follow and I am in my early 40s.

Yesterday I turned on the TV/Fox and the GF replay had just started. I watched the 1st 5 goals then shut it down.

Project yourself back this time last year, October 2017 ..

Back then we had Jesse White hanging up the boots and thanking us for our support. We’d had a club review and something about ‘fixing cap’ got leaked when a TV camera got a preview of the boardroom presentation. The club had just extended Bucks’ contract despite having just finished 13th. There was talk of paying out Chris Mayne’s contract. The plebiscite just been resolved in favour of ‘Yes’.

If somebody had told you that the following would happen over the next 12 months, it would have been madness:

- Dayne Beams would be back on our list
- Chris Mayne would become a pretty good player
- Buckley would go on to win 2018 AFLCA coach of the year
- Collingwood will play in 2018 Grand Final.
- Our impotent forward line (remember that?) would be fixed by a ‘Swoop squad’ of DeGoey, WHE, Josh Thomas, and a new draftee kid who isn’t even on our list yet. A mature age rookie from Port Melbourne will also pitch in for 26 goals in the back end of the season.

- Collingwood would have its very first Rising Star winner (in both men’s and women’s)
- Sier would become an integral part of our team
- Carlton will get even worse and win the wooden spoon.

We usually have a ‘your crazy prediction’ thread at the start of a season, and nobody ever predicts anything that crazy!
