bomber will ultimately be held responsible, rightly or wrongly, but we have a few lazy footballers who look good when we win but go missing when people are needed to stand up. i think kelly and johnson are the two that stand out in this regard.

Fair comment...very fair.

These two have to stand up soon.

Just make them run all week for training. We need to make our players faster and it would be a nice punishment for a lazy game and a crappy season.

Save it for the pre-season. Too late to be running fitness into a team in Round 17. To be frank, I didn't think that was our problem today.

Flogging them will only hurt our chances for next week.

It is far too late to pick up conditioning. This is the reason why that idiot Bartolacci was fired. Hopeless.

We had too many people waiting for the bus today, it was sooooo annoying. SJ, Mackie and especially Kelly were just watching their players from 20mtres or so. It was terrible to watch.

it had nothing to do with his wife. (and her not having friends or liking the town) Cressa is our man, when Thompson walks.

In Bertolacci's official press release regarding his sacking he inferred that he questioned the match committee/the coach's decision to do only one running session per day during the pre-season. Also, it was he who cautioned against Kingsley being played in the Hawthorn game (during which he re-injured his hamstring).

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the court action.

That would satisfy me Purring. There was an article a few weeks back about Cressa in the Courier Mail.

Either him or Pyke are the type of coaches we should be targeting right now.

Cressa because of the way he improved our midfield (goodbye Andy Lovell), and Pyke because of the Neil Craig factor.

Go for Pyke.

We need Cressa to stay in Brisbane :)
He's done good work for you as a forward coach this season. I've been an interested observant as to his work.

Seems like the young players like Hooper are coming through well, while Bradshaw has become a good FF again, without Jonathan Brown in support for most of the season.

I know you'd hate to lose him, but hey we're desperate here. :)

That's absolutely true, but discipline starts with the coach. They've been allowed to play the same way for 5 years, and they are almost never dropped. Plus Thompson doesn't punish players on the training track after bad performances. It's always kid gloves with him.

Fact is Thompson is far, far too soft and lenient on the players, and that poison permeates through. I've said it many times, the players are cocooned and comfortable, and the senior coach is the person responsible for that.

Err, yes it does. Cresswell has made it very clear that he wants his wife to be able to live near her family in Queensland.
Someone point out to him that she can buy a Jetstar ticket every weekend and still live comfortably on his salary.

I think we should get Pyke as coach, since he's seen how Neil Craig operates and will be able to bring some of that to Geelong, and get Buddha as skills and midfield coach. :)

Works for me.

Either way, Pyke will certainly be in demand this off-season.

For a top job?

Not many places come up.....there's only 16 clubs with majority of those settled on coaches.

That given, he is pretty good and will one day probably take a top job.

For both a top job if one were to open up, and for an assistant's position I would imagine.

That said, if he can't get a senior coach spot, he'll probably stay in Adelaide and continue to build his reputation.
