Was the 175 vs the Windies the one where he got barbequed by Green? Or am I just imaginining that?Head has made 7 scores of 150+ in his 12 tonnes but he seems to lose concentration once he gets to the 120-130 stage and does seem to throw double centuries away.
170 at Adelaide and 163 here were double centuries for the taking but he was dropped in both knocks. The 175 v a weak Windies attack at AO in December 2022 was a double century there for the taking and IMO so was the 163 he made in the World Test Championship at Lord's against India in 2023. I can't remember the other 3 x 150+ tons that well.
tribey is right that there is a bit of Mark Waugh about Head, but Waugh only got to 150 once compared to his twin Steve who made that great 200 at Sabina Park in Jamaica for Oz to finally beat the Windies in 1995 (Mark made 126) and he also made 13 other scores of 150+, with 7 of them not out. He made 32 tons all up.
I've said before that Head is the new Doug Walters. Dougie made 15 tons, with a double century against the Windies early on in his career, I think he was only 21, and another one near the end. The only other score he hit over 118, was his debut innings of 155 as a 19 year old against the Poms. He tended to keep attacking when he got to 100, just like Head does.
The game has changed since Head's dismissal. Poms setting a reasonable field and bowling well to it and runs aren't flowing. And no fairy tale ending for Ussie it seems.

You underestimate our lower order - Starc has 2 fifties in this series, and he's batting at 10.Lol we hardly gonna have a lead
I still reckon a 200+ lead is on here. The Pommy fieldsmen are looking like they're feeling sorry for themselves, and the batsmen are looking hungry for runs.Australia leads it by 81 runs. We need more runs to offset the fact that we do not have a front line spinner. Not playing a spinner in Sydney is crazy. If ever there was an opportunity for bazball this is it. A good pitch and some sameness to the Australian attack is a golden opportunity for the Poms. Hopefully they go for it and are all out for 80!
Smith is that good I’d still fancy him scoring a ton against the Poms on the old age pensionSmith's 13th Ashes hundred - the only Aussie with more is some dude called Bradman, who I'm led to believe could play a bit.

I laughed at a post earlier, which suggested that we have a Test opener at number 11There is nothing I’d love more than for him to somehow survive the impending minefield tomorrow and overshadow the Poms’ false prophet with an even bigger score
. Plenty more pain for the beleaguered bowlers yet.Can we hope to see more magic from a part time spinner in the dying moments on day 5 at the SCG?Australia leads it by 81 runs. Yep he was run out and Green was to blame, but Trav was starting to tire and just throw the bat at just about anything and wasn't sharp at that stage of his innings. Was the 175 vs the Windies the one where he got barbequed by Green? Or am I just imaginining that?
Yeah if Trav keeps choking in 160's and 170's, we won't lose too many Tests.Anything over 140 is a big hundred in my eyes I don't want Trav changing anything.
Yeah batted the whole innings and still couldnt get it done.Hilarious bottle job by Davey Warner chasing the Strikers total at the Adelaide Oval tonight.
I liked his response to the questionYeah if Trav keeps choking in 160's and 170's, we won't lose too many Tests.
Nesser to take 6fa and Webster to land a few Offies that excite a few.Australia should be looking at a lead of 200+ which should be insurance against defeat.
In days gone by the Poms were an overly cautious lot who would sooner draw than risk defeat. In these days of bazball who knows? Given Australia bat until lunch today the Poms may try to make 400 in a day then try to bowl Australia out for less than 200 in under two sessions.
