Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Here is a query I've had for ages. Watching the NZ test has brought it up again.

Why do some Australian Test shirts have different sponsor arrangements? I think all players have the logo of Vodafone on the right side of the front. Yet the sleeve placement of Vodafone differs - some have it on the left sleeve, others on the right. Is this purely preference?

The sponsor's logo faces the camera when the player is batting, so its what hand they bat with.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Been doing it for a while now.

Because new zealand doesn't have a sleeve sponsor they have just plain white with the canterbury logo on the other side.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Has anybody else noticed that weird thing on the back of the asics cricket tops?

I think it has the same purpose as Adidas Clima-Cool shirts. It has the meshy type material for the sweat and the body to air out. Not so sure though...

I never even contemplated that. Insane. How long has this been done? I can recall it being consistent through my life - but I only really started paying attention, and thus raising the question, since around the Orange-sponsored days (I think).

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Not as good as the traditional one IMO. Would probably look better on an ODI kit. Just looks out of place on the test whites.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Will the bbl teams have sponsors on the front of their kits, or will they just be cleanskin?

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

My bet would be on the teams having sponsors on the front

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

I would've thought that being the "KFC Big Bash League" that like its previous incarnation, all teams would have the KFC logo on the front of their kits.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

They have the KFC logo on the sleeves, so I doybt they'll have them on the front.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Good point, maybe the stakeholders will pop their companies on the shirts.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Stars could have the Collingwood logo, and Renegades the Kangaroos logo.

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Pretty sure the strikers have West End as the front sponsor

EDIT: Yes they do

Looks like they might be at the back too

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Makes the front look more complete imo, but it looks terrible on the back. Where would the number and name fit?

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

Interesting to see the manufacturer logo relegated to the sleeve a la the national side.

Don't actually know. Found that under the 'behind the scenes commercial shooting' folder on the official site so may just be something they used for filming? If they do have it on the back I expect it to be resized and relocated further down the back (like on footy jumpers). These are only iron-ons btw, you can see that they're glossy.
Interesting to see that of all the teams Adelaide are the only ones with sponsors. Probably just about the smallest of all the teams and looking at some 'like ladder' thing on the BBL website, the least popular too...

Re: Cricket Kit Design/Discussion

The state's beer and the state's team, hand in hand. Nothing wrong with long sponsorships - ask Geelong about their Ford sponsorship.
