News Crouch & Stengle Caught with Illicit Substance

Any half decent small forwards on the trade market?

I reckon a DUI followed in the same year by illicit drug use after all the faux remorse and wrapping around of arms might sink Stengle.

Yeah Stengle is done. No way he survives this one given he got done DUI earlier in the year.
Our club is usually pretty cool with this stuff

Doubt we'll overreact

Frustrating to hear, but this is something that happens a hundred times a season all over the AFL.

Young guys in the off season, it's going to happen. But we all know this will just be the next thing to lump on the shitheap of things the media will crucify us for.

Not a huge issue imo.
It's a very very big problem. The club is regarded as a joke right now in the industry. 10 years of constant infractions and players leaving we are at a cross roads.

If the club writes this off we just prove to the afl community we are a shit club with shit culture. The club has to set the standard and I'm sorry but these two boys may have to be subject to the extreme. I think more positives will come from sacking Stengle long term than not and by Crouch being involved I feel that's a senior player on our list we can do without.

Make no mistake, this is a huge test for the club and these players unfortunately picked possibly the worst time in the clubs history to screw up. I don't think the club can simply absorb this.

Goodbye Stengle, 2 **** ups in 6 months just won't cut it. There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me you can't get fooled again.

Agree that is about the stupidest time to be caught like this. Disagree that the club will come down hard on them. We'll absorb this like we have absorbed all the other minor infractions and altercations in recent times.

It's almost as though the club imposed suspension was a waste of time and had no impact

A second one should do the trick

I’m sick of the whole choirboy thing.

Footballers get paid to play football. Screw up off field then punish them, fine. You don’t sack them for shit like this.

We have to! The clubs image can't keep taking hits. The club has to care about itself or how do we expect the players to care about the club and jumper moving forward.

Maybe treat players well, don't hire incompetent off-field staff like Burton, don't underpay star players and definitely don't get caught rorting the salary cap?

Nah, can't be anything like that. Throw the book at the kid who just got caught with a very small amount of drugs. That'll make people bleed for us, ignoring that its safer to assume everyone at the club dabbles with drugs to some degree.

Adelaide players Brad Crouch and Tyson Stengle have allegedly been caught with illicit drugs and face fines and possible suspension from the AFL.

Crouch and Stengle were stopped and searched by police early Monday morning in inner Adelaide.

Police won't charge the pair but have referred them to counselling, the Crows say.

But Crouch, a newly-turned free agent weighing offers to join rival clubs, and Stengle, who the Crows banned earlier in the year for drink-driving, face certain sanctions from their club and the league.

100% if they were referred to counselling they would have had a bag of coke on them. Yes they are all on it... yes there are players all over that love the nose candy... fools got caught... obviously out on mad monday... and the police obviously suspected they were carrying some baking powder... my opinion of course...

Given this is public, does this mean it is a second strike?:

" On the second strike a player's name is made public and he serves a four-match suspension. "

I think might be different because it's a police thing rather than them failing an official and what would be a confidential drug test.
